New toys have arrived!
My order from Harbor Freight just arrived: digital calipers, a digital scale, and a digital angle gauge.
I did a quick check on a couple of bikes here with the scale and angle gauge and got some surprising results. My '73 Bottecchia Gran Turismo came in a bit lighter than I thought: 24.6-lbs with pedals and pump. But what really surpirsed me are the frame angles: seat tube 73.5 degrees, head tube 74 degrees. Those are slightly steeper than I expected (I would have though 73/73 parallel) My Bottecchia is as yet incomplete so I can't get a weight but it has the following: seat tube 72.5 degrees, head tube 71.5 degrees. Those numbers are in line with what I would expect for a Special. I need to practice a bit with the angle gauge now to make sure I'm getting good measurements and get all the bikes weighed. |
Thanks for sharing. What size is your Bottecchia?

New toys are always fun. Have you had a chance to utilize the calipers or are you just anticipating a time when you'll have to identify some mystery tubing?
