Cinelli MX-1 BMX bike. something you don't see every day
Hi,
So yesterday I picked up my rossin road bike and today I had a little treat arrive from new zealand.
It's a 1980 Cinelli MX-1 bmx bike, frame, forks, bars are made of columbus tubing.
with annodised gold campagnolo parts & ambrosio BMX rims.
This was one of only 10 imported to NZ ever, only 2 a knowen to remain, & now this one lives with me in Australia.
I will be fitting high flange camapagnolo hubs & a new ambrosio rim (when I find it) & need to find another cinelli BMX stem (rare as hens teeth) as mine broke whel it was getting disassembled.
It is getting a full restoration & I will be racing it in the retro race series in australia, it's for pre 1986 bmx bikes, once my shoulder is healed as I dislocated my arm & broke my collar bone 5 weeks back crashing a jump.
Here it is

it's meant to have a decal set, I need to hunt one down once it gets re-painted.
it's veeeeeery light for a BMX, It is lightler than my modern day BMX with carbon forks & dura-ace cranks.

Nice. I kid I knew had a Cinelli CMX back in the day, great bike. I saw a NOS frame on ebay a while back. I believe the winning bid was around $800.

A few years ago, I had come to an agreement to buy a whole bunch of old stock directly from the Cinelli warehouse in Italy. They had 3 NOS CMX frames... When my friend went to pick up the items agreed upon (with cash in hand) one of the top guys in the company simply said "No deal"

Holy hell! that NOS gear is nuts
well, Australia post busted the box sending it to me & the original stem went missing.
I'm furious, i'm in the process of tyring to get some sort of re-embursment.
I need to find a sticker set & rear rim, it's looking pretty hard.
I will post up some origional adverts later

Bloody Aus post, hopefully you'll get something out of them, was the shipping insured?
Best of luck with the sticker set and rim, if you found this bike complete I'm sure you can find them.
What state/territory are you in?
