And don't forget to do proper maintenance while on your Schwinn holiday!

A foxtail! I knew I was missing something on my bike. Can I get one at the LBS?

A fellow at Ratrodbikes was selling foxtails pretty cheap. I just didn't know what kind of oil to use.

I'm glad you did -- I love this stuff!

The date of this ad got me to digging again and now I'm pretty sure that I was wrong on the date of my early NW catalog.

Looking at your ad and the '39 and '40 catalogs on Tom Findley's site(http://www.trfindley.com/pg_schwinn_cats.htm), I think mine (listed as 1941) is really 1939 (or 1938 -- whatever the first year of the New Worlds was). The bikes in the supposed "1941" catalog show rear facing dropouts (as does the 1939 catalog art), but the 1940 catalog shows the forward facing "Continental" dropouts. The other 1941 dated brochure on Tom's site shows the newer style grips as well as the forward dropouts. I know catalog art is not always the best indicator of age of a bike, but it is about all I have to go on.

I picked up a lady's NW this past weekend that has the rear facing dropouts and so I've been revisiting this issue (Pastor Bob -- we may need to talk) .

Thoughts?

Bob
