DiaCompe Silver D-tube Shifters

I'm fairly new to bike forums, and road biking in general. My obsession started when I procured a Schwinn Voyaguer 11.8, it's a great bike for me, in rather poor cosmetic condition though... I was riding a few days ago and my front dérailleur shifter crapped out, I went home , cleaned it, oiled it, then put it back on, but to my dismay it still wouldn't work. So I bought a pair of DiaCompe Silver DT shifters of Velo Orange for forty bucks. They arrived to day, but to my dismay they wouldn't fit on my old clamp on shifter bosses (Shimano Altus, if it matters...). I looked around on line for new clamp on bosses, and found nothing, I was wondering if any of you hard core bike people could help me? Thanks in advance.

I too have an 11.8 and I took off the original Shimano and put Suntour Suberbe all around.

So is there any way to get these shifters to work?

It sounds like the old shift bosses are not standard sized. I'm not familiar with yours so I don't know. Your best bet may be to buy a set of clamp-on Suntour shifters from ebay. Search for Suntour shifter clamp ..... or Suntour Sprint shifter . I see there are a few listed..... one has a set of ST Sprint shifters with the clamp on .... it's a bit overpriced ..... but in your case your alternatives are few.

I'd ask VO - if a clamp for them exists, guaranteed those guys can lay hands on it.

You can also run them as bar-end shifters. If VO doesn't have the bar-end pods, Rivendell does.
