Is the man crazy?

What kind of woman would allow a bike in a room with this wall paper? Doesn't he have a white garage door?

maybe she keeps her bikes in a victorian style sitting room. but then again what is with the three different wallpapers? was there a remnant close out? a 'bike room' should have a medium cherry wainscoating to enhance the beauty of the bikes.

I like it! Very Victorian to have different upper and lower papers with a rich border paper to separate the two. We did several rooms this way when restoring an 1880's home. I never wallpapered a ceiling, but many period homes do have this. Check out Victorian Home magazine for more on this....

Now, I do agree that this probably isn't the ideal backdrop for a bike photo!!

Obviously the proper backdrop for a penny-farthing, not a safety.

Maybe it's HER bike. I have no problem with that.
In fact, I find that thought very, uh, h-h-hottt...

Maybe, just maybe, this person thought potential buyers would be looking at the bike, and not the contents of their home. (or the wallpaper.)

I'm much more appreciative of vintage plaster and woodwork.

And leaded glass.

Do guitars from the 50s and 60s count as well?

The strip of wallpaper dividing the upper and lower half is called a 'chair rail'. It is for when you hit the walls with the back of the chairs when moving them around. You can simply replace a strip instead of rewallpapering the entire wall. Think of it as a real nice piece to lean your handlebars on.

Handlebar rail, I'll bet, in her house....I still think it's her bike, and I'll bet she's pretty.

you're getting wound up, Robbie. Ahem. Merz is a really good bike, btw, and this one comes with early DA. $850 is maybe a little optimistic on the part of the seller, though. $500 might not be inappropriate, though.

Reply:

I have 2 extra bikes and 3 frames hanging from the ceiling of my 2nd bathroom. I guess I just got booted off the forum! The main thing is that you have the bikes and use them.
