If I'd known you were a Yankee's fan, I never would have sent you the jerseys.

In the mail today, BTW.

I have to be a Yankees fan: I live here. But I'd really like to see Joe Torre get a shot at them in the Series -- don't know who I'd be rooting for then.

Pfffft....... I was born and raised in L.A., and always hated the Dodgers. Made life interesting.....

The Yankess are the Dark Side of baseball. Lord George has harnessed the Dark Side to do his Evil bidding... Thank God the Red Sox tried for many years to battle this Evil Force.... Go the right side of the force, the Red Sox and anyone else who beats the Yankees!

The Angels looked like a little league team in the field tonight. We'll take it. The Yanks need to win tomorrow (or whenever the rain ends) before the trip to LA, then take at least one there to bring it back home for the win!

No, it's more like the perpetual high-end vs. bike boom whine-fest threads. The Yankees are the high-end team everyone loves to hate (Colnago?) and the rest of the league clubs are Schwinn Varsities and Peugeot UO8's.

My dearly departed father, raised in Brooklyn, sad the saddest day in his life was when the Dodgers left Brooklyn. According to him nobody in NY liked the Yankees. So, I had to spend the rest of my life being a closet Yankees fan.

OTH, it's easy to be a Yankee fan when the Indians are your home team.

CS1...my father is from Brooklyn and is a life time Yanks fan. His older brother was sort of a jerk. He was the kind of kid who rooted for Darth Vader and the Sheriff of Nottingham. Anyway, he was a Yanks fan mostly because it annoyed everyone else, and my father, who hero worshiped him, followed in his steps.

At first I thought you were going to tell me that for being a Yanks fan you were going to toss a nice Brooks in the box....then I read the rest and realized that was not gonna happen

But now I will always have a special reason to wear them proudly

I am a RedSox fan and love them and anyone who is playing the Yankees that day. Hope that the Angels come back and beat them. Or that the Dodgers and Phils do. My workplace is 90% Yankee fans. Unfortunately, a majority of them are incredibly obnoxious about their team and feel that they are not only far superior to any team in either league, and that they should not even play the season but just hand over the World Series Trophy to the Yankees. For better or worse, I will be a life long Red Sox fan.

I still don't understand how anyone could support a team that won't allow its players to grow beards.

All the Yakee player are sell outs, and I think it's lame to be a fan of a team just because they always win or because they are the most popular choice to support.

I hate the Yankees and the Red Sox.

As our Indians fell apart....again We were all rooting for the Tigers, but that didn't work out so well either.

I grew up geographically almost exactly half way between Boston and New York. It was akin to the Civil War in Maryland/Kentucky etc. You'd have battles even between relatives in the same family. That is a strong rivalry. People have taken to talking about the Yankees as the "dark side", which is actually way off the mark. Yes, the Yankees have a big payroll, but so do the Red Sox. People talk about obnoxious Yankees fans, but the Sox fans are equally as bad or worse in many instances (recall that mass bottle throwing incident at Fenway during that playoff series back in the late 1990s?). Fans on both sides can be obnoxious, but this "dark side" bit is off the mark. The real "dark side" of the whole thing is not any one team or any one person, but the fact that over the years the entire game has become rife with steroid use and bad behavior by a growing number of players. There are some model people in baseball, but there is a core of bad apples who've given the game a bad name. These guys appear on pretty much every team in one form or another.

Game 2 of the ALCS was a circus.

Baseball has never been as dirty as pro cycling.

Ha. This thread is no longer off topic.

I would claim "as dirty". Speed use by batters has been very typical forever. Speed kills cyclists, baseball players don't stress themselves too much

half the sox fans in the world are just bandwagon hoppers. To be honest, i hate baseball it's ridiculously boring. i quit playing because it was boring and i was a pitcher. But i was brought up to like the yankees, so i'm all for them winning.

Go Yanks.

(virginian raised by yankees fans.)

Historically the Yanks have proven themselves far superior to most of the league.
Though a avid Yankee fan and not abashed in that proclamation I try not to be obnoxious about it.
But it does amaze me how most Yankee haters will ignore the shortcomings of their team but bombard negative adjectives on the Yanks.
The bottom line is that Yanks have always been willing to pay top dollar for top talent where other teams do not.
