Centurian bike -can anyone help?

Hey. This is my first post. Love the site and access it alot.

I found a bike on the street, and I was wondering if anyone could help identify it. It's a Centurion, black frame with a sticker that says: HI-TEN high tensile steel tubing MADE BY MIKI.
It has a 'Made in Japan' sticker on the base with the number M5H04771.

It has suntour components and dia-compe brakes and levers....
from what I've read in threads so far: most single coloured Centurions where late 70's....?
and also the (70's) Centurians where hi-ten steel tubing? but from the serial number info it may be an '85. The components look pretty old to me.
It has no drill holes in the tubing for bottle cages....

It was covered in rust and dirt. As I clean it up... it's starting to look beautiful....
I love bikes but my actual technical knowledge is a bit limited.
Can anyone help at all?

Hi-ten = heavy. If you can clean it up and make it work more power to you!

There is a Centurion serial number database on this forum that might help you out.

1975 entry level model. most likely a Lemans, as that was their most popular model. VGT rear derailleur would be indicative of a LeMans of that year. Pics would help.

Low end/bottom end, but looks pretty clean. High ten steel frame, stem shifters, steel crank, butted axle, low end Suntour Honor derailleur, no integral frame derailleur hanger, etc. Looks like a good solid bike.

It's a 1985 Centurion Cavaletto. M-code serial numbers were quite rare on Centurion in the 1980s. Normally the serial number would be typical of the 1970s but those are definitely mid-1980s decals.

I like it. Decals are from 1983-1985.
The bike is in good shape.
I think it would make a great daily commuter. Hard to kill it.
