I noticed that one this morning, as tempting as it is to make the drive something felt spammy about the listing. Where did he take that picture from? It looks more like a picture from an outraged neighbor to me.

I agree there is probably only 2 or 3 worthwhile bikes in that whole pile. Such a collection wouldnt take too long to attain if you bring home everything you come across in the trash and garage sales and the dump/recycle center/scrap yard.

I imagine pissed off neighbors complained about that guy, and probably had the police over!

Gee, these pics make my basement look tame. Of course I've added about 10 or 20 bikes since this was taken.

And this is not fake. Robbietunes can verify.

^^ wow. I have some big shoes to fill. Makes me feel small with my three bike collection. I can't seem to find as many project bikes as some of you guys do. At least not ones that don't involve hundreds of dollars for the initial cost. ;P

Now if he/she stores those outside because they ran out of space inside, I'd hate to see the inside of that house - or no, let me rephrase that : I'd love to see the inside!

Never a camera around...

A few years ago I ended up at a Yard Sale and the back yard was filled completely with bicycles, bicycle parts and paraphernalia. I spend less than a hundred dollars and purchased five nice old road bicycles including a Steve Bauer, a Peugeot Super Sport, a Velo Sport Alpin18, and a couple of others that slip my memory at this time.

Upon completion of our transaction, the Yard Sale host offered me everything else in his backyard for $20.00. He just wanted it all gone! The bike stuff had belonged to the deceased owner of the house where the Yard Sale was being hosted. I did not buy the rest of the items since I already had the bikes(stuff) I was interested in.

The point is, I know of several people in my small city who have hoards of bicycle poorly stored here and there. Heavens knows, I might be one of these guys.

Presently, The Old Shed holds just over 100 collectible road bicycles. I do not bring entry level stuff home anymore unless it is in excellent shape or very unusual.

I also have bicycles stored in my backyard but I do my best to move this out as quickly as I can since I do not want to trouble my neighbors or attract thieves.

And to add to the jumble, I store bicycles at my summer cottage under tarps and I recently rented a space at our Bicycles for Humanity Workshop so that I can store some of the better bikes inside where they will be easy to get at this winter.

Is there a clinical name for what is wrong with us. And as for the "collect em all" idea - I am trying.

hoarding, I believe, is the clinical name. sounds like fun, if it's the right stuff.

Hoarding???

Robbietunes might have a point but I am not sure that I am hoarding. I just cannot sell off the bicycles as fast as they show up these days. This week saw two Montinis arrive, one Peugeot, a Nakamura, a Norco and another gorgeous Peugeot Mixte. And it is only Tuesday! I know that I will be getting a 1972 Raleigh Grand Prix later today, a Raleigh Record(similar vintage) today, another Raleigh Record and also a Sekine something or other with original fenders mounted which will arrive today. That's a total of ten bikes before mid week.

Now this week is a bit unusual. Normally I get about two bicycles per week but even at that, I cannot sell them all. It is just too much work for a retired fellow and I do not want to run my sales up too much on Ebay. Doing so will attract the Canadian Tax Man and I DO NOT WANT THAT!

I do admit that I might be hoarding my Campagnolo stuff. I have several boxes full of Campy components including complete NR, SR, C-Record and Veloce grouppos - some including built up wheels and all in excellent condition. I do not like to part with the Campy stuff since the value rises so quickly these days. I hate it when I sell something today that sells again tomorrow for considerably more. But that is just me.
