WalMart is the anti-christ, and destroys small business where ever they are. Not good for the US economy.

I tend to agree to a point.

does anyone have a link to that Niagra bike place? I found a Niagra Cycle works but no low price tires there

I think this is the link to that Niagra place:

https://www.niagaracycle.com/index.php?cPath=132

You must have to check their clearance page to find the good or better deals.

Not just a toy store, but a kick-ass toy store. Pretty amazing. The hardware store is kick ass too. That's why they survive. Small businesses can succeed, they just have to be smarter than they used to have to be. Can't be lame and still scrape by anymore, not for long.

With all due respect (and I mean that seriously, not sarcastically) I have to disagree. WallyWorld is such a blight on the economic landscape that I think it bears repeating, even shouting from the rooftops - as long as it's done without four letter Anglo Saxon words.

I was just in one a couple of days ago. Looked like a pretty robust economic engine to me.

Ooops. Looks like we couldn't leave well enough alone. Time to spike the thread, methinks.

I bought 5 packs of it while I was down in Austin. Its decent for a flip bike, But I would not run it on mine.

The point being, that such discussion is social/political (and appropriately conducted in P&R). It really has zero to do with Classic and Vintage - other than the obvious observation that very little you'd find there would be of much interest to a C&V aficionado.

As a convenient source to complete a flip, W/M is a decent option. But if I manage my supplies right, I can find better options on line for about 50% the cost of W/M.

And the on line stuff usually only makes sense when you buy in volume, otherwise the shipping will eat your lunch (except for those somewhat rare free shipping sales). My last order from Niagara had about 9% shipping, not much different than sales tax around here.

You might consider buying a roll of 1" heavyweight twill tape. A 72 yard roll is pretty cheap. At Bob Hovey's suggestion, I bought mine here. It doesn't have any adhesive on the back, but if you wrap it while it's wet, you don't need any. It will conform nicely to the bars. I think it could pass for Velox Tressostar tape.

gridplan - I'd love to see more pics of your gorgeous Masi. I use white Tressostar or Cateye cotton weave tape on my Paramount P14, and it looks dirty almost immediately. Do you have a special set of gloves to wear when you ride it?

I know what you mean about white tape. That site I mentioned also sells tape in off-white and black, which would help to hide grime. As for the Masi, I've never ridden it, so the tape is as white as ever. It was more an exercise in finding the right parts and putting it together. I have a few more pics here.

Well, your Masi looks great! About the only change I'd make if it were mine would be to give it a Regina Oro chain, which I think would go very well with the paint color. My philosophy is a little different than yours in that I enjoy riding all of my bikes, even though it means they will get dirty and inevitably get dinged up. This is the closest thing I have to your Masi.
