This requires that you are using Mozilla Firefox as your browser.

Someone on this forum mentioned ad block plus to get rid of that little advertisement in the corner. Well, I tried it and realized it does much much more. It removed many of the frills that seem to be bothering people. It's easy to do, here is how:

In your browers toolbar, click the "Tools" drop down menu
-Select "add-ons"
-Select "Get Add-ons"
-Select "Browse all add-ons"
-Find and install Ad Block Plus

Then, right click on that advertisement in the corner and select "Adblock plus: Block image"

Here are the results.

How do I block only that image? When I right click, it doesn't say AdBlock Plus, but rather "Block all images from bikeforums.net. This includes people's avatars and the pictures people post of their bicycles.

A word of caution. While this does simplify things, it appears to remove some of the options like emoticons and the little tool icons to load pictures.

You can always undo and go back to normal if you want:
-Click the ABP stop sign in your browser tool bar
-Select Preferences
-uncheck the blocking rules for bike forums.
-refresh your browser

Hmm, well... I can still see avatars and photos. I cannot see the tool buttons for loading pictures though. I posted undo instructions if you like but there may be a way to control what gets blocked.

Best thing to do is block ONLY new_vbulletin_4-BR.png (the image at the corner) and gradients/grey-up.png, which creates the fade/scalloping between posts. Right click directly on the scalloping to get an option for the latter.

you can selectively filter only the image you clicked on rather than all images.

you can do the same with the reply buttons and other various controls to get a basic flat looking control button with no gradient.

In Firefox there is also this:

Remove It Permanently plugin for Firefox.
Right-click on the bug, go to "RIP Advanced...", tick "remove from this domain", and hit "all similar items". Poof. No VB4 in the bottom
corner. Removing it (via RIP) also seems to help speed up the loading of pages and scrolling.

I just used adblock plus to get rid of the little bug in the corner everyone has their panties all in a wad about, beyond that I don't care what the forum looks like, it works fine for me and I can read posts about stuff that actually matters instead of the constant whining about something being changed.

Thanks Marty, worked like a champ. Got to love Firefox!

I really kind of like the new format, but I did not care for that pesky ad in the right corner. Poof!!
