IRO's bargain basement is really a bargain
High-flange SS/fixed-gear cartridge-bearing hubset 36h black or silver (limited) for $40
Low-flange ditto hubset 32h for $20
and a few other things. They're having a Black Friday sale with 10% off and free shipping for orders over $100.

Aren't IRO hubs, kind of bottom end quality? Not a killer deal, but not too bad either, if hubs would actually stand up to a few thousand miles.

I think that IRO high-flange hubs are basically rebranded Formula hubs. Harris also carries them with their own branding, as well as the Formula-branded ones.

You can pay $40-45 each for them at Harris, or get them from IRO's bargain basement for $40 the pair.
Maybe the $20 low-flange jobs are low-rent. I imagine the reason that the high-flange hubs are in the bargain section is that IRO has gone to Dia-Compe for their premium hub now, the un-holey ones that cost a lot more.
I ordered a set of the bargain high-flanges for my son, who wants a singlespeed (yeah! second bike, maybe I've got him hooked!) so we'll see what they look like. I thought it was a deal. If I like them, and they're still available, I might get a pair for myself.

hate to say this, but this post probably belongs to the fixie forum, since they have nothing classic nor vintage available...

Some C&Vers have SS/fixed bikes, and I wanted to give my friends an opportunity to save some dough. It's not a political statement.

I know and it was not taken as such And no offense was meant. I was just saying that it might find more fruitful ground at the fixie forum. I went there try to look for cheap 27inch tires and was surprised a tad
