I hear you! I finished a couple of days ago, but took some more pics in the hour of sun we finally got yesterday.

A Note to the entrants!

When you submit your entry I will write a response back letting you know that you are all set. If you do not get a reply then you need to get in touch with me either through email or PM on this site.

I will be checking my messages frequently through the night. Right now we have 13 entries in and ready to go.

Well, when no time zone is specified it defaults to the best state's time zone (Ohio).

I have everyones pictures loaded and ready to post. I should have a new thread with the entries up and running around 4-5pm.... EST.

Thanks for all your hard work!

And just for fun this should get you to the theme song of what would have been my build:

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U9-ljaJ...ient=mv-google

Using a phone so the linkage might or might not cause issues. I'll try to capture the modified lyrics and edit this if I can. And remember, it's all in fun folks.
///////////
It is the night.
My body's weak.
I'm on the clock.
No time to sleep.
I've got to ride.
Ride like the wind back to work again
And I got such a long way to go.
To make it to the walls of my cubicle
So I'll ride like the wind.
I was born the son of a of a working man
Always spoke my mind with a wrench in my hand

Lived nine lives feels like ten
Gonna ride like the wind.
And I got such a long way to go.
To make it to the walls of my cubicle
So I'll ride like the wind.
Ride like the wind.
Ride like the wind.
Hired and tired and told to clock in
I was running late when the starting bell rang
Never was the kind to do as I was told.
Gonna ride like the wind before I get old.
It is the night.
My body's weak.
I'm on the run.
No time to sleep.
I've got to ride.
Ride like the wind to get to work again.
And I got such a long way to go.
To make it to the walls of my cubicle
So I'll ride like the wind.
Ride like the wind.
And I got such a long way to go.
To make it to the walls of my cubicle
So I'll ride like the wind.
Gonna ride the Aerowind
////////////////

Edit again:
Awhile back I was given an Aerowind (Huffy) frameset picked up for two packs of cigarettes down in Chicago which was going to be the frame I used. The concept was to build up a cheap and tight budget "I feel fast" commuter bike. But a couple issues with the Aerowind bottom bracket conversion, and some problems getting parts for a 7-speed internally geared Nexxus 700c wheel I snagged for $20, along with a few other issues lead to missing the extended deadline. Maybe I'll post a new thread with pics and hopefully find someone with some spare parts I need to proceed with it.

I thought about using a different bike/frame (like a _silver_ Univega) but I was just stuck on using the funky Aerowind frame.

I'm looking forward to seeing the completed builds.

Aww dammit! I wanted to see the Aerowind all built up!

treebound 03-16-10 08:11 AM

Give me time and it will get built. I'll even let you take it for a ride when it gets done. :)

4-5 PM EST... or EDT? :)

It's a shame my build didn't come together in time, but I'm looking forward to seeing those that did!

This is the second. The first had a bit of drama...hoping to avoid that this go around! Here's the first (sending you to the page where the entries are first posted): http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ildoff!/page14

My charge for this service is any pre-1960 Campagnolo component. :D

randyjawa 03-16-10 03:19 PM

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Wish that I had thought to ask this before. I must admit that I have had fun building a bike, and now, anticipating the builds of others.

Isn't this fun!

There was another thread earlier in the competition planning that had the links, but this is the thread that was ultimately stickyed.

David325 03-16-10 05:45 PM

Mine was in late from lack of internet due to a big storm. Even if I don't get in, I still have a nice bike! Can't wait to see the entries.

mkeller234 03-16-10 10:18 PM

Ok guys, the entries have been turned over to the judges. I will post a new thread for the entries sometime tomorrow probably and link it here.

mkeller234 03-17-10 10:00 AM

The entries have been posted in another thread. You can find it HERE.
