I picked up this Grand Sport Deluxe frame awhile back, during my (seemingly neverending) search for a TdF in this size. My first scratch French build. I added a few upgrades.

I made a tire change on my U08 a few weeks ago. The Paselas were not holding up on the rough urban roads so I put on Gatorskins for sanity's sake.

Thanks. The crank is a Sugino Maxy, 110BCD, an upgrade I did in the late 70's. I selected the Maxy because it was inexpensive but it turned out to be a good choice as it introduced me to 110's.

About the only bikes I have with something larger than 110 BCD are my French bikes (122 BCD) and my half step. Most others have gone 110 with compact setups. I rarely ever use even a 52x13 (who needs a 52x11?!)

A work in progress...
After donating my U08 "Velo de Ville" to my brother-in-law for his medically mandated fitness program, I was looking around for a project to replace it. This is what I've done so far with the PFN10 I bought for $30 several weeks ago:
When I bought it at a moving sale, this bike was in rough shape; it was ridden hard and put away with no thought given to preservation. Still, it has responded well to my cleaning and restoration efforts. Now she is almost ready to join my stable as an upgrade replacement for my U08.
She is by no means finished. But I've felt rather guilty burdening her with all this weight when she started life with that wonderful light Vitus 181 frame. Still, as you see her here, she weighs 28.8 lbs. and she carries it well. At 5'9" she is a bit tall for me. But her 60cm frame is the first one that I haven't wanted a setback seatpost for. Once I hoist myself up into the saddle, she feels perfect!
Anyway, I've got a couple of finishing touches planned for her, and then I will do a photo-shoot downtown where a proper Velo de Ville belongs.

An old Helium, manufactured by Peugeot. Berseau ("cradle") mixte frame, 650B white tires, 4-speed derailleur, wingnuts, nice chainguard. Pretty little bike that I'd have loved to keep but we had no use for it and no room. It was given to me and I gave it away. Photo of a photo below.

Peugeot Premiere, I bought this brand new in 1985 or 86 for the grand sum of £89.99. Rode it for a few years then it went into the garage, and somehow survived three house moves and a divorce before being dragged back out into daylight last year and refettled.
Now has a Chorus chainset, Look Arc pedals, Vuelta Typhoon wheelset, Shimano 9 speed gearing, and a newer saddle to replace the one the mice got at. Still has the original Weinmann brakes and levers, and bars, stem, and post.

Also, if you think about it, Red and Blue like France.. Maybe something White next time I'm going to upgrade (it used to have White handlebar tape, but it looked ****)!
