IIRC, those Huret derailleurs did have bare or clear finished pressed plate Ti pivot bodies, as you can see from their color, but I'm not sure if the RD arms are Ti though. They could be just aluminum. If I understand correctly Ti mostly came in plate stock or tubes, not cast??

Only the "knuckles", I think that's correct. The Succes also has pulley wheels with bearing balls and two positions for the cage, depending on freewheel cog size.

I don't see any Ti used in the front derailer, Mr F. Wouldn't make much sense to use it there and certainly not to camouflage it.

That's not the natural color of titanium.

The later version of this derailer didn't have the paint.

Welcome to C&V, John. Very nice bike! I saw some of the 'unboxing' pics on another forum. It looks to be in vgc indeed! We'd appreciate some pics here as well!

This was originally a Peugeot UO-18 mixte which I got off of Craigslist about 7 years ago. My first adult bike at the time! Only it was left to stagnate, given to a then-girlfriend, taken back completely trashed, loaned to a roommate, and trashed even further (the cotters were falling out!). But a few months ago, I decided to make it my DREAM BIKE.

The replaced/upgraded components are as follows:
- Velo Orange French BB
- IRD Defiant 46t crankset
- MKS Sylvan Stream pedals (clones of the original Lyodards)
- Soma Iggy 700c alloy wheels with a 5-speed Sturmey Archer IGH
- Soma New Xpress brown 700x26c tires
- Nitto B617 handlebars
- VO "city" brake levers
- VO brown brake pads which are complete garbage
- A fake-lugged alloy French stem by Pivo from eBay
- Front cable-hanger by Dia-Compe to replace the really flexy original

And the new stuff:
- VO slim smooth 700c alloy fenders (removed the lil' VO badges on the rear)
- ALU-DUR wing chainguard! Ugh, I'm so grateful I found it.

Interesting brake lever placement. So... you brake with your thumbs?
Not to be too critical but, I hope having that old PIVO stem up so high doesn't cause problems for you.
It's looks a bit scary, to me.

Nice bike.

My latest build is a mid seventies C35(ish) Bertin, I just couldn't resist the opulent gold painted frame. No room for the MAFAC hanger in the front (stack height *$%§) so I improvised a temporary front brake until I find and install a decent P3 headset. Very nice riding qualities, as classic as it gets. It's by far my smartest bike: de-mul-ti-pli-ca-tion without blinking! (shimano bar ends though)

Really nice CMAW! Your bar treatment by the way looks perfect - Who'da thunk BLUE bar tape would look so right? - but there are enough hints of blue on the badge and ST to tie it together, and it offers a nice departure from the usual black & gold scheme.

Thanks Auchen. I tried something new to finish the cotton tape: double sided rim tape (for tubulars) with a short strip of Benotto tricolore on top of it. Looks cleaner than any electrical or whatever tape, I just hope it holds.

Clever. It'll hold. Just shellac it!

Don't be ridiculous. He obviously sits on the bars and rides backwards.

My Dad could do that.

It is a nice looking bike.

Nice bike.
Eep, yeah, I was worried I set the stem a lil' too high. I'll lower it a few cm for the peace of mind.

As for the levers, it's comfortable on this bar to have my hands gripping the outside of the bar, rather than on top. So the levers line up nicely with m'fingers. Also, yeah, if I have my hands resting on top of the bar, kinda on the brake "hoods" too, thumb-braking could be an option for a gentle slowdown.

And thank you for the feedback!

This will be my this year's classic ride for "In Velo Veritas" an "L'Eroica". First picture is, how I got the bike from the first owner (his widow):

This is my actual setup - no claim for originality. There are parts from four decades :

It rides marvelous. Tyres are "Challenge Eroica" - tubulars. Pedals are to be changed.

I think your cycle would be more attractive with black tirés.
Normally the brake câbles going to the outside of the handlebar and intersect, look on the red Peugeot.
