1974(?) Schwinn Le Tour II

Long story short...picked up this for $50 at a thrift store

The serial number is 1747, according from what I've looked up, it was made from the 174th day of 74 or 84? 77 OR 87 is what I meant. Thanks Scooper
Can someone identify the parts?

The scratches around the badge area looks really painful Is there any way to restore the paint? The chain and some parts of the frame looks rusty, how should I clean it? Thanks a lot

Derailleur and associated hardware appears to be Suntour. Cranks are sakae (obvsly), the bell is Bigass - would you mind parting with it? ;D (the bell, you can keep the bike)

There were no Le Tour II models produced in 1974. What you call the serial number is actually the assembly date code, which translates to the 174th day of 1977.

There are numerous threads on how best to attack rust. I would search the forum through google.

As to the paint, it looks pretty decent. I would get some polishing compound at Walmart or wherever, it will really bring out the shine. If you need some touch up, Testors model enamel is the tool of choice by many on this site.

Nice pickup!

Here is my '77 Le Tour II. Yours has a number of non-stock parts on it but they all appear to be upgrades.
