My Sports project
Well since I have time this winter I decided to take this guy into the house and clean him up, lots of nice pictures for ya to see. I found a neat chainguard that should fit on it nice. I decided the chainguard will be painted white and the fenders repainted the fenders need lots of loving, well the front one does, looks like the bike rolled off a curb and the bottom of the fender caught it. well there was a mudflap there some time ago.
I'll post pictures in order. rims are as clean as they will come, if I really wanna save em i'll have to rechrome, wich I dun feel like doing lol. the new seat also needs some loving.
Heres what it looked like before I took it inside.
Then it came apart. and chain guard placed on to see if I like the shape of it.
And these are hows it been changing.
Here it is with chrome fenders, I picked them because of the sticker that was stuck on the rear fender, who could say no to that? also it seems this bke can't have a cahin guard because the crank arm is very close to the crankring.

There are quite a few pictures of 1930s English 3-speeds provided by "grubb1937" on Flickr, which you may have already seen. A great source of information for restorations.

I checked that link and noticed something, if i'm gonna put a chainguard on this I think it has to be a full chaincase. judging by all those bikes they seem to only have full cases back then or nothing lol I wonder where I can find one of those. theres alot of pretty bikes there too. thanks for the link.

Saddle's gotta go dude! :-) I don't think a full chain case is appropriate on this type of sports/club bike. The way you've set it up looks right to me.

Yeah that seat neads work, I think i'll hang it up on display with the other well loved ones. i'm not sure what kind of seat looks good on this, and I was thinking chainguard less is the way to go, judging by the sapcing I think I found out why it didn't have one. I thought about the wingnuts and though why does this bike even have them? both wheels are a pain to take off lol theres the drumbreak on one wheel and wires on the other, but it looks great with them!

The drum brake 3 speed is cool. So are the bars, but I can't tell if they are going to be a pain or not.
What's wrong with the seat? Sure it's not a Brooks, but you have to sit on something.

The bars are neat, people always ask why they look messed lol I ride the bike with them on the wrong way, like you see in the pictures. if I have them dropped it's hard to ride because of the frame size. so I only drom them if the bike will be at some kind of show. as for that seat. it's ugly but soft on my tush lol

I think there was one, or maybe it was a Show your 3 speeds or english 3 speeds. I collect the sports because I love the bike, I realized the american ones where not all steel when I seen a picture, canadian ones all have steel brakes I seen others with alloy ones, but that could of been upgrades.

I picked one up the other day and doing a mild rebuild/resto to it.Seeing what others have done helps gives ya Idea's which direction to go.It's a 52' in Ok shape and one of the tires is original.
I was a little bummed to find they do not make the brake cables anymore and already spent more than its probably worth.
Being a ladies frame I can always be comfortable in a skirt.

Lol remember this, Any old bike thats worked hard to come this far is worth the money!. if you would like pictures of my Sports. I only keep men's models but have had lots of female ones also. I mean Step through! lol
I was just working on my sports and it's comming togeather nice, and yeah mine has proberly worse cables to find, yet I did find a way to make them! buy department store DIY cables, when one of mine broke I noticed the part that stayed in the handle brake leaver. the round led thing, well these where brass, they had a hole in them and the cable slid though then was frailed on other side causeing it to stay in, I just drilled a hole in something the same size and it worked. lol my emails HanyouSean@hotmail.com If you wanna see loads of pictures send an email there, Or tell me and i'll make a post on here of all the Sports, colt,Superbe i've owned, theres another name but I forget spelling!
