Recovered saddles...
In another thread I was just reading, a Forum member asked about recovering vintage saddles. This, to me, is an interesting topic since saddles are one of the first things to suffer damage from careless and then extended use.
With this in mind, who has re-covered a saddle or saddles? And, would you be good enough to show the results of your efforts.
I intend to attempt to recover a Turbo saddle, after cutting it down to resemble a Swallow from the Brooks line-up. A local friend has done this on a couple of his saddles but has not had time to show me how he makes his butt perches look so darn good.
Here is a bit of information I have collected to get me started.

The saddle in the lfgss forum is an amazing piece of DIY work. I have a thin piece of leather I've been meaning to recover a sprung saddle with... I'll post pics if I ever get around to it.

I took a different route. My saddle was typical and ripped at the nose (BTW, my best guess is that it was made in the 40s). The overall form of it was still OK so I laminated a thick piece of leather to the inside of the original leather. So basically the outer lether is for show and the inner leather bares the load. Good in theory, but I haven't used it yet, I am still waiting to find the correct bike for it.
