Yeah, I know what you mean. It's not the inexpensive hobby it was 20 years ago. Hard to justify spending more money when you already have a rather spectacular roadster. I'm always tempted to start projects I don't really have any use for. A late 60s Colt stepthrough just showed up on my local CL.
A 18 inch frame would be totally unrideable for me, but the thought of fixing up a little mini Sports still appeals to me for some reason. Common sense took over and I passed it up. They wanted too much for it anyway.

According to his blog, about half of what a Pashley Guvnor sells for. So I would guess in the $500-$600 range. Still one a helluva nice looking bike!

I often tell people that if you buy a Raleigh Sports and upgrade the wheels to alloy you will still be in it for less than half the price of a new Pashley and have just as nice a bike.

Well, I did it. I sold my 1955 Phillips bike yesterday. It was the one I bought last summer for $100 all original, overhauled and even built new wheels for (using same overhauled hubs). Buyer got new wheels/tubes/tires, cables/housings, brake pads, etc. I barely broke even or may have even lost a tiny bit, but the bike was big for me, and I really just wanted someone to ride it and love it. I've had it on & off CL for about 3 months, so I'm pleased.
The young fellow who bought it doesn't have a car, so it will be his only transportation, and his partner has a vintage Schwinn, so they're bike people.
I still ill have my 1971 Raleigh Twenty, which has a AW 3 speed hub that definitely fits and I'll keep. So.....don't be hard on me. I learned so much with that overhaul and you all guided me so much.
