Yet another bicycle purchase. 1960 Norman 3 Speed with a AG Dynohub. Rough but workable. I didn't pay much for it ($75.00 CDN), so I don't mind spending a bit to get it back on the road. I spotted this one in the spring at a used clothing/stuff store. The original asking price was a whopping $350.00 but obviously, there were no takers. I offered $60.00 and we settled on $75.00.

Is there a good-quality aftermarket metal fender set that'll fit 26x1-3/8 wheels? 700C-sized would be too large (I think) and regular 26"-sized would be too small (I think). In case anyone was considering something similar, this is a thing that works...one weird thing, though: this lever (Shimano 105 ST-5510) has a trimming position that almost lines up with the neutral position between 2 and 3 on the hub, while my Tiagra 4500-equipped bike has the trimming position where it would be between 1 and 2 instead. Just something to be aware of.

Yes! Having a barn means that you never have to pass up an old junker bike.
On the good side, these fenders seem plenty solid enough to use, are very similar to the originals, the decorative tip on the front is aluminum and will polish up like new, I don't have any use for them at all and would be happy if they were useful in a restoration project. On the bad side, the surface rust is substantial and would require at least 3 paint coats with wet sanding to get a smooth finish. And none of the bolts on this bike simply unscrew. Getting them off would be a bit of work, but I don't mind. I do that sort of thing for fun. Walking around up in the old hay loft is a bit tricky. Some of the boards ain't what they ought to be.

On real heavy crude I have been using aluminium foil and glass cleaner with ammonia (windex) Its almost magic. For lighter duty small parts use foil and liquid auto cleaner wax. Two steps at once!

I've been working on my 1960 Norman and making progress.
After 55 years the Dynohub still works....

Classic Bicycles
This is a fake bike shop that we set up in Hamilton, Ontario last month as a set for an upcoming Christmas Movie. There was another sign that covered the existing Panini sign. It's hard to see but the bikes on display are a Raleigh Superbe, a Dunelt and the Mustang style bike is a new Hot Rod that we painted Christmas Red and added some vintage red sparkle grips.

Modified with a Hercules chain ring and an Raleigh/Glider chain guard.
Pedals are new MK 3000.

I picked up yet another Eatons Glider (1962) on the w/e from a neighbour for $40.00.
It had some very nice parts which have already been harvested and moved over to the Norman.
A near perfect trigger and better brake levers. It also had a pair of pump brackets.
I have a question about the frame and will post some photos later.....
