Old Steel Giant road bike frame? - What have I got here?

I was given a lugged steel road frame which has had several bad repaints over the years. (Apologies for the bad cell phone photos - the best I could get at the time). It's light, but not super lightweight with steel forks, a derailleur hanger and thick rear drop-outs, DT braze-on bosses, two sets of bottle cage bosses, fluted seat stay caps, fender threading on the drop outs, recessed nut brake fixing holes and a pump location peg behind the head tube.

I plan to strip and repaint it ready to build. The only clue I can find to its identity is a circular "Giant" logo embossed on the outside of each rear drop out. I can't find any serial numbers or other markings yet but haven't removed any of the numerous layers of paint. Seat post is smaller than a 27.2mm diameter, could be 27.0 or 26.8, I need to measure that. The Cinelli stem in the photos didn't come with the frame - any idea what model this is as well?

Can anyone with memories or knowledge of Giant steel road frames help with any ideas ideas on what model this is, approximate age (I'm guessing mid 80's?) what colour scheme it would have had originally, decals & their placement, type of tubing (I'm assuming Chromoly?) and how it would have been equipped?

My current plan is to spray it plain white and build it up with an SR chainset, Suntour Cyclone with DT levers, Cinelli stem, Winpista bars, Suntour brake levers & Dia Compe callipers, NOS Lyotard pedals & chrome toeclips, NOS white leather toestraps. I have a choice of wheelsets - Weinmann clinchers on Joytech small flange hubs or Vuelta on Shimano hubs. All parts in hand. This specification could change though, depending on information received!

Any/all information and ideas will be very gratefully received. I'm not too interested in the value or prestige of this frame - I intend to build it as a rider, not to sell or display, but it would be good to know something of its origins. It will effectively be a "free" spare bike. I did hear that some early Giant road frames were built in the Netherlands - anyone know anything about that?

Thanks in advance,

I'm going to take a wild guess here and assume that it's an early 90's Giant Allegre. The lugs look just like mine, which was a 1991.

It was a great bike and rode wonderfully, it was just too big for me. I have a few more pictures that may help you identify some detailed lug work, so shoot me a PM if you want me to send those over to you.
