tool for the cog lockring on a Sachs torpedo coaster brake hub from the 1930s
What would I use to take the lockring off a Sachs Torpedo coaster brake hub from teh 1930s?
This hub was on a 1930s NSU bicycle, and the spokes are completely rusted. I rebuilt the front wheel last night, but can't get the lockring off the rear hub so I can remove the cog--and I can't lace the wheel with a cog sitting there!
The lockring has 3 splines, but the normal BB lockring wrench won't fit it.
Thanks!

Those hubs came with a multi-tool (or two) kinda like the Sturmey Archer one that came with Raleigh three speeds. You see them on ebay sometimes.
Here's a photo off the hubstripping website:
I'm under the impression those two wrenches are actually different; not sure. I think that curved part, with the hook on it, is the specific tool you need. Does that look right?

How crazy! I just got a bike with that same hub - see the WWII Swiss Military Bike thread I created a few days ago:
you need this:
I don't know where to find one, but at least now you know what to look for.
Good Luck!

Please post a picture.
If the bike dates to the 30's and was badly rusted this could be a tough job... I have removed cogs and lock rings off coaster bikes from that era and it required chemicals, lots of heat, and burnt offerings to the bicycle gods.
Be careful doing this as fire and penetrants are dangerous and sometimes you need to use extreme amounts of force... make sure your tools are up to the task as having a chain whip or cog tool break while you are reefing on things can cause some serious injury.

I "did" a Sachs DreiGang (3 speed) last year. I got the LBS to undo the lockring. Reverse Thread!!
I was lucky - no rust
see pics at old post https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...hs-torpedo-hub
And the sprocket is a tricky item to obtain (at least in NZ) - it has 3 rectangular teeth, not three semicircles like Sturmey Archer and some Shimano.
I got a N.O.S. sprocket for 15 Euros from Heinz at https://www.velo-classic.de/ I took a punt and emailed the contact email in English (I speak nein German) and got a quick reply from Heinz, whose written English is better than mine
Just don't mention the war...
