Miyata Team Titanium
Picked this up last night, no pictures at the moment, posting from work, looks like this.
https://flickr.com/photos/sprawlers/3489750515/ Though not as clean.
I'm not sure what to do with this, It, mostly fits, but It's not the kind of bike I would normally ride, more into tourers or utility. It has some coating ( Lacquer? ) peeling off where the cable guides a bonded on, can I get that off and recoat? Or just leave it bare? I bought it because the deal was too good to turn down. I figure if the bike isn't worth that much, I can get my money back on the pieces, though I don't really want to part it. Or just keep it for sunny fast rides in the country.

If it fits keep it for fast rides... Its always nice to have a fast bike in the stable even if its not very practical.
I'm currently building up an 84' Team Miyata for the same reason...a pure go-fast bike.

I had the chance to buy a Ti Miyata in my size and foolishly passed on it. Hopefully, one day another comes along at a reasonable price. I love ti, I love Miyata...what a bike you got!

Zaphod Beeblebrox, please tell us (and show us) how that Miyata is coming. Here or in another thread.

No, it was a local buy from a free listing, didn't even mention Team or Titanium in the ad, was going to pass, then took a good squint at the poor photo. "Does that say Titanium?"
Yup.
Yup.

I owned a Koga TiRunner (now in the collection of a fellow collector). Where the front mech was clamped some clear had flaked off. Same for where the canti bosses were bolted on. Loose particles I removed. A spray oily substance brings back the gloss for the entire frame.

Just be careful with these as the Ti tubes can come unbonded from the aluminum lugs. I bought one of them off of ebay and it had this problem. Took all of the parts off of it and put them on my Miyata 912...

I am going to look at one of these tonight... If I might guess - I would say that the bike should be worth 200 - 350 USD for a really nice example. Am I off?

I think you;re extremely low...they had dura ace on them for God's sakes. The one I missed on Ebay sold for $500 and I was kicking myself for not buying it.

Well the miyata ti I was talking about - I did not see last night but he was asking for the equivalent of 487 USD (it is in Stockholm).
I did get a ti Carrera with mostly campy components (crank/bb is ultegra). Very happy with that purchase!
Going to look at some other wheels and components at the place where the Miyata is stored - so I should get a chance to see it this weekend. My wife will however kill me if I buy another bike after the one that came home last night - so it is a matter of want versus need. I was willing to purchase it for the right price and loan it to a friend... maybe he will come down in price by Saturday if it isnt gone by then. It isnt worth 500 USD to me...
If I see it - I will report on condition and components.

Jim...I would definitely trust your memory over my own. Perhaps the ones I've seen were upgraded...or perhaps I'm just remembering wrong. Or a combo of both.

attached is said bike that I can see perhaps this week. Maybe you can identify the components on this one - but my experience from his other bikes are that he has mixed components, so this might not be original.
Attached is the ti carrera I bought last night

I think that's a 600 crank...I can't tell anything else on it from that photo. Does that fork look wrong to anyone else? I'm definitely an amateur on this...but it doesn't look copacetic to me.

In Europe Koga carried a model in its line up, called FullPro-Titanium, that used the same bonded ti frame. Koga didn't settle for an Ultegra 600 groupset, but went for Dura Ace with some upgrades instead. The QRs were ti examples supplied by Ringle and the ti bottom bracket came from Syncros. In one year Syncros even supplied their Revolution cranks, Altura stem and post. A lot Canadian flavour.

One thing I noticed, the freehub (7 speed) appears to be compatible with both uniglide and hyperglide, that is, it has threads on the outside and inside of the the freehub. It's running a hyperglide cassette at the moment.
