Determining age of Campy Daytona Shifters?

I just got a set of Daytona 9 spd shifters. My buddy couldn't remember if these were 2000 or 2001 models. I was wondering if there was any relatively easy way to determine the model year.

I want to install the shifters on my Tommasini Super Prestige and I'm not sure if I will need to also replace my pre-2001 rear derailleur to use these shifters.

Thanks,
JLMyers

Hello jlmyers, this might be just a bit new for the C&V forum. I am not sure if there is a way to tell the exact year but in most cases pairing an older set of shifters to a newer derailleur works better than the other way around.

Didn't you just ask this in the mechanics section?

Thanks all. I did post this in the mechanics section, a couple hours after posting here and realizing this wasn't the best section for this question. I couldn't figure out how to remove the post.

I think it's post-2001 if '9 speed' is screened on the levers.

What derailer type was your "buddy" running,as they are visibly different & that should tell you which year your shifters are compatible with if I am not mistaken.

Bikes: Crap. The box is not big enough...

I'm pretty sure that most 9-speed campy plays well together. Daytona may not work perfectly with record stuff, though. Campagnolo (and Shimano) has always had a little bias for their top-drawer stuff.

Unfortunately, these shifters were in a box and haven't been used in "awhile", so I can't look at the derailleur.

They don't have "9 speed" screened on them, so I'm hoping they are 2000 and compatible with my current pre-2001 rear derailleur.

I'll try them with the current derailleur and upgrade the derailleur if necessary.

Thanks all who responded.
