88 Cannondale SR800...in WHITE??!!??!!

It's spring, and that means that some of the projects that have been brewing in The Secret Underground Laboratory this winter are starting to emerge.

This one was inspired by a suggestion from a guy who bought a refurbished red 88 SR800 from me last fall and wondered what it would look like with the colors flipped. Well...here it is.

The 88 SR frame was stripped and powdered coated in white by Len McCreary at Figure LLC in Manassas (guy does super work ), then built up with all Shimano 600: 6400 series FD, RD, Crank, corncob 6 speed FW, BB & headset, 6200 series shifters and brakes, and R600 brake levers. Saddle is a Vader, brake housing is Odyssey Slik, stem is an SR, bars are Sakae 38mm, wrap is XLC, and bar ends are also Odyssey (their stuff is really BMX but it's super tough). Decal set is from Vntage Cannondale, tires are Maxxis Detonators and the wheels are a new set from WheelSmith.

Forgive the platform pedals (I include a cheap set for demo purposes), cable ties (top tube cable guides are still on order) and lack of crank dust caps (Oops!). Rides really sweet , and somebody will be very happy with it.

Superbe outcome, the simple look of cannondales over simplified look with a fresh coat of white? Beautiful, simplistic, purposeful look.

I have to rethink my opinion of white bikes after seeing the results of the several being posted lately...(the tuxedo Centurion, etc).
The white makes a neutral canvas for highlighting the components and foreground colors. Oustanding looking Cannondale.

I love white bikes. This is a great example why! H.O.T. If it were my ride, I'd switch out that saddle for a black Turbo or Regal.

That's nice! It should give somebody a nice ride.

My '86 SR400, upgraded to Shimano 105 circa 1990, also sports white, with red decals and cables. 'Caught my eye at the end of my teens.

Thanks for the kind comments. I took this out for a fast 15 miler yesterday and it shifts & brakes and rides flawlessly. Made me realize once again just how well bikes of this era were designed and manufactured.
