Identifying vintage Peugeot bikes
There is a very old thread on this site with this topic, but I thought I'd post a new one! We are trying to identify what model of bikes we have. We have two Peugeots that we bought in Europe in 1972 - 4. My husband's was bought at the Canadian Exchange in Germany and has no serial number as the plate is missing. It has a chain guard and more metal around the derailer (sorry, I am not at all familiar with bike terms - I'm probably horrifying most of you!). My bike was bought at the French exchange in France, is lighter, and does not have the chain guard or extra metal... the serial number is 2423837. I've posted photos of the serial # and posts at:

I'm sure neither bike is worth much to anyone but us, but it would be nice to know the models. Any assistance would be appreciated!

Hi! Thank you for the response, and sorry about the photos not showing up. I had posted to another Peugeot forum as well (Inspector Gadget) and he replied saying that my husband's bike is a UO8, and that mine is likely a PX8, even though there are no fenders, racks or lights on it. We are just happy to know what we have. Thanks so much!

This might be of some help - Seventies Something Peugoet UO8 or if you think you have a higher end bike, Peugeot PX10
You might want to post pictures that we can access. Relying on one opinion, can lead to error when trying to determine what a bike is and its vintage. I do urge you to seek assorted opinions. Chances are you will hit closer to the mark.
Hope this is a help.
