Screaming good deal on TA crank puller

Not my auction. These guys were dual-sided, one for TA, one for standard 22mm:

Bill,

PM me, I'll loan you mine:

BTW, if someone wins this and needs a manual, here is a quick snap of my manual (right click for full size, because BF shrinks images) :

BTW, if the instructions are not clear enough You always have to screw these guys in with a wrench to bottom them. Always

Ha, me too! I was stalking this despite not having an immediate need for it. Planning for the future I guess.

I bagged one a few weeks ago on eBay for about $16 or so. They don't go too high, so be patient and you'll score soon enough.

Fortunately, I have the Var double sided puller. I've never used the TA side (though I've loaned it to local shops more than once), as I've never had a TA crank until now. Guess I'll finally be using it. I've plenty of Stronglight cranks, but I have that puller, and am not about to use the TA puller on them anyhoo..

I have one, along with some other older park tools (and some old campy tools) that I bought off local craigslist. $30 for a box of 8-10 assorted tools! There was even the complex looking park "third hand" brake tool in there. Let me know if you want to borrow the puller when you come down this way wrk101, you can mail it back later.

PM sent to Norskagent,

OK, slight veering off on this thread, I have this crankset that sure looks like a TA to me, but it is clearly marked Stronglight. I am hunting a puller to salvage the crankset off this donor bike.

Stronglight and TA both made cranks with a 50.4 mm bcd. The Stronglight cranks use a 23.35 mm threaded puller while the TA uses a 23mm puller.

someone got creative with that FD (love the chain too )

That crank looks like a Stronglight 49D, but TA used a lot of the 5 pin arrangement so there is the similarity. 49D clearly

At least a half dozen companies made versions of that 50.4 BCD crank.

Yes, that is clearly a Stronglight 49D. I think that's what you were trying to say.

I'm not seeing the FD thing, it looks kind of like a Suntour Compe V to me. Is it the angle of the cage? What am I missing?

this gives me an idea. I do not always have all my tools here in NJ, but should we start a "tool to share" thread? we can post alot of bike tools in those $5 priority boxes

I have things like a Campi FW remover, the C-Rec dust cap tool, those awsome Stien seatpost sizers.

That's why I didn't post a picture of the entire bike. Its a real P*O*S. But it has some decent donor parts.

It looks better from a distance....

Still trying to salvage the barcons.

Someone here had several of the CCP-1 double-sided threaded bushings. I retrofitted a CCP-2 with one of these. Hopefully, they'll see this thread and chime in.

I just spent £25 on a used TA crank puller.
Thats 38.55 US$, and thought it was cheep. Did you know none of the bikeshops in my local area have either a stronglight or a TA puller

Unsurprising, even in France. Those that do will probably use the wrong puller and bugger your threads.

I was so desperate for a T.A. puller a couple of years ago that I paid Yellow Jersey's price.
