I have a pair of stem shifters that are SHIANG 800 and the design is just like the old shimano 600s. I laughed so hard when I saw 'em.

you got it from the dump, i assumed you aquired it for free or less than 20$. If i was you i wouldnt even mind about it beeing a fake 3 rencho, at least. its a good nishiki after all, paint looks good, component seems to be good, frame looks to be straight, ride it till it turns to dust.

Fixify that fake before it contaminates the 3 Rensho gene pool!

It's fake (right down to English threading!), but it's pretty darn nice, whatever it is:

You should make up a set of decals for it saying "2Shiki" ("ni" being japanese for 2) in the style of the 3Rensho decals, that way you can keep the style while still being honest!

While I contest the honesty claim - I don't believe the present owner of a fake should be drawn and quartered for owning the results of someone else's handiwork - I must say that the 2Shiki moniker is arguably one of the most amusing things I've heard since "Guaranteed NOT Built with Reynolds 531." It's just too good a pun not to make into a decal for that bike.

Apparently there are a bunch of fake Hetchinses out there... read all about 'em.

But I must admit, I'm fascinated by fakes. I've long wanted to turn my Trek 720 --which is a perfectly real one, with full 531, Cinelli BB, &c., into a fake something else. Something with good graphics. I'm even tempted to give it fake fancy lugs, lovingly rendered in JB Weld or something. But I haven't decided what, yet; so it remains a boring rattlecanned original. Suggestions, anyone?

I can't get into the idea of making a nice bike look like something posh. Don't you have any crap bikes to start with?

I used a generic three-speed frame, a FOCT* which had already been rattlecanned once. It looked pretty good in black with the "lugs" spraypainted cream. I named it after its main attribute, weight: The Poundsworth.

*FOCT- "Found on Curb, Trashed"

May I bring up the Centurionelli controversy? Here the subject is further muddled by a professional paint and decal job:

Repainted Centurionellis w/early Cinelli decals serve very well to expose the hypocrisy of those who cry foul about fake decals. Not once have I seen anyone complain about a machine such as the one above for the decals it wears. The result is too pretty, and the original decals too ugly for the naysayers to point out that it violates two of their principle codes, namely:

#1: It isn't original
#2: Regardless who made it, it wasn't sold as one.

Fact is, those who complain about decals are selective in their criticism. Not to say that I don't think that those who deliberately misrepresent a frame are - ahem - scum.

</digression>

Back to the pictures.

I wish I could find the pic of the 2006 Wally World, Schwinn Prelude some guy bought, removed all the Schwinn decals and replaced them with "Cervelo", then put it on CL.

Who was it that said "there's one born every minute"?

just out of curiosity, are Colnago and 3Rensho decals cheaper than other decals? Seems like a lot of the fakes use those 2 decals.

Probably in greater demand, and easier to get as a result.
