Whos doing all the C&V name dropping in their CL listings?

This 912 has been on the Buffalo C-list for a bit now and I like to look at it but this guy is using T-mar and USAZorro now in his pitch. I just thought it was strange to me, unless there are any other forum members in Buffalo...

Google most any vintage bike or component with history and you will find T-mar posting from Classic Rendevous or here. Doesn't make it right though.

I wonder if the individual speaks as poorly as he/she writes. If I met this person and they ejected that string of words I would immediately conclude they were mentally unsound.

T-mar may be knowledgeable, but to the average person outside of C&V reading this ad, the seller just looks like an idiot. Who the hell is T-mar? they wonder and why should I care?

It reads better if you replace "T-Mar" with "Bobbie Joe" and "USAZorro" with "Lurleen."

It's my size too.

It looks to me like the seller just did a google search for his bike, found a description, and did a copy/paste. He probably didn't even read it.

Jared's got it right.

the ad even says "Someone's Opinion I found on the Internet" before he pastes in the post.

Should have at least given the Original Poster credit

but honestly, do a google search on just about any late model bike and the first page of links is gonna be threads from here, CR and a small handful of other sites

Found it. Looks like he took two different peoples opinions and made it one. Or just copied a whole post, quote and all.

The seller's writing is not even remotely as pitiful as what I've commonly seen appearing in CL. (It embarrasses me just to think we share the same taxonomic order.)

I doubt if the buyers will understand what real authorities T-mar and USAZorro actually are, but I think it is a pretty convincing sales tactic nonetheless.

If that guy had studied the list more closely, he would have taken his pictures from the drive side, raised up his seat, and used full sized pics.

Yes, it is a pretty bike, first it was $700, then $600, then $500, so I'm just waiting it out...

Once, someone on C&V found a CL ad some place, and the ad included a picture of my bike, as if it was the one being sold! Now that was really weird!

Well, for future reference, anyone is welcome to use this quote of mine in their CL listing:

"According to Pcad, this bike was mentioned by Sheldon Brown to have lugwork designed by Phillip Johnson soon after he left the Skunkworks because of artistic differences."
