Help needed to identify these vintage road bike frames!

Hi!

I bought these 2 frames recently. Both seem to be of high quality, but as the stickers are missing/not original(?) I have no Idea who made these frames.

1. The red one is a great frame as it has Reynolds 531 Professional tubes, it is fully chromed underneath the red paint

2. The blue one is a riddle for me. I think that the Colnago stickers have been applied later. I don't think that it is a Colnago - the stickers are partially on the wrong place, the lugs show no Colnago sign, but there is this dove, probably the Columbus dove on the fork head and near the seat post.

I am sure you guys can give me a hint and that would be very much appreciated!! :-)

Thanks,

Ron

only hints I can give are to confirm that the "Colnago" is not, at least it's not a Super by any stretch: the lugs are wrong, the stay caps wrong, the fork crown wrong and the 3 TT cable eyes wrong...but it seems like a pretty nice Aelle frame anyway. Can you verify that it's Italian threading? The red one might be easier to track down since there are few frames built from 531 (red numbers) tubing...I can never remember the diff between SL and Pro, but nevertheless, there were not many bikes that used it, especially with internal cable routing and that style of fork and that paint...is it all British threading?

I think that Hetchins sometimes used seat stay detail like that on the red-orange bike (or similar) -- aside from some Raleigh Professionals (with stays attached a bit lower) and another Raleigh that I have (stays directly into seatpost clamp fittings) I don't know of any other manufacturer that did that -- maybe some smaller-volume constructors, though.

If Italian threaded, there's a slight ID opportunity if there's BMZ lettered on the bottom bracket, for BMZ for Biemmezeta, who is a contract builder. BMZ built for many different brands.

I am guessing Bob Jackson on the red bike. Similar seat bolt.
