Miyata 1000LT Original Group

I have recovered a miyata 1000LT frame, it is green, and has a sailboat on the toptube logo. I am wondering if anyone can give me any other identifying information, I would especially like to know what kind of component group the bike was originally set up with.

let me know what you know!

Lucky for you, the Miyata catalogs are incredibly well, well, cataloged. Check out MiyataCatalogs.com, and try and match up paint jobs and decals.

I was lucky enough to stumble across this near mint and original Miyata 1000 Touring and have owned two others since.

Hope this is a help.

I just got one in very good nick as well. Its an '89 1000 LT and all original.

Deore Cranks w/ Biopace Chainrings & 105 Pedals
Deore Derailleurs & Hubs (7 speed)
105 Index Shifters
105 "SLR" Brake Levers
SLR Canti brakes

and also key...Jim Blackburn Rear and Front Lowrider racks.

The only odd and potentially hard-to-find bit on the bike is the black Miyata branded stem, and those crazy Miyata Radial Tires.

The NOS 1000 I passed on had suntour cyclone derailleurs, dia-compe brakes and I think Sugino cranks. The bars were a randonneur bend style,

^^ that would be an early 80's model like a '81ish

I think the early 80's ones are better looking than the late 80's 1000LT but they're all equally functional.

better looking perhaps but some of them came with 27" wheels and would have freewheels. A late 1980s early 1990s model already has key changes for anyone wanting to do some serious touring like 700 wheels and wider rear spacing often already with a freehub/cassette. I'd argue this makes them more functional. Not sure entirely but the early 1990s models may have more tire clearance as well.

I once saw a Confente made of diamonds.

Sadly, I didn't have a camera. :-(

That looks almost identical to my Koga Miyata Traveler

If it rides like mine, you're in for a treat.
