1981 Raleigh Record Ace paint question
Hi All, I was giving my 'Queen Mother of the Fleet' a wipe down yesterday and the Decals started to flake off. I have a rattle can of Krylon clear lacquer in the garage and wonder if a few light coats over the decals might save them without causing problems with the original paint.
A bit of history...I bought the bike new in '81 and the dealer told me it was the last year that the Record Ace was to be built in England. About 10 years ago after some years of neglect while riding my other bikes I noticed how badly the rims, quill and other bits had weathered. Since it never had quite fit that well I rebuilt it with leftover and some new parts into a light touring bike.
TIA for any advice on the decals and I hope I didn't bore anyone with the history part.
Brad
