    A good deal?

    Hi guys,

I have been looking at vintage road bikes, as I can't really afford the new bikes atm. N+1 is coming on strong! I was looking on the local classified and came across an old Mercier for $150. Were these good bikes? Is there much of a learning curve for down tube shifters?

    Thanks alot!

    Ryan.

That frame is bigger then anything I've seen where I live here. You probally need to be 6 foot 2 + to ride it.

If it does fit its probaly worth picking up because a size like that might not appear too often.

I would not be very interested in that bike. Looks to be in mediocre condition, hard to tell from those pics.

$150 is up there for that bike. Might be able to deal down the price. Merciers had some great graphics on their bikes. Are you a decent mechanic? Something like that is going to need a lot of fixing and adjusting.

As for downtube shifters, its the only shifters I use. Pull back, push forward, its really simple. A couple miles of riding and you should have it.
