Ok, I give up, I'm writing this off as just another lesson in the risks of buying from an unknown web site.
But I'd still like to restore the logo on my Moto. Can anyone recommend another custom decal source?

You'll really have something to complain about:

You are just showing your age, when I grew up contractions were the norm, assy. Blvd. Ave. , now its the clic of the acronym.
And I have no Idea what FIFY represents, but it sounds close to that poodle with a mohawk.
To the original poster, who guessed instead of tests, may this be the biggest problem in your life.
Buy replacements from somewhere and have a professional apply them.

$45.00 for decals makes one a bit gun shy but, I just pulled the trigger and will have a shop here in Portland do the installation.
Ordered the White Motobecane decals.

I'm the OP. I just got an email reply from JR - he says his computer crashed a week ago. He's going to send me some new decals along with better (or different) instructions, and I guess we'll clarify what they actually are (waterbase or not) and how to apply them. So, maybe things will be made right.

^Glad to hear it. I had a feeling it would turn out this way. Fill us in, when it's all over?

I love my Schwinn Super Sport decals that I got from JR. I am wondering how Scooper got white ones though. Only black appeared on Velocals website.

You're not limited to the decals shown on the website. He does custom work. He made me some Super Champion wheel stickers and only charged me $5.

JR/Velocals puts out great product in my experience. The service is good as well, other than the well-known part about getting JR's attention in the first place.

Not to mention Macbooks which crack their LCD screen hinges, which have a going rate of about $75 on the used market - if you're not under warranty. Of course, unlike everyone else's hinges, which cost $1.25.

LCD hinges? So, you own an iPhone or iPad that has experienced this problem?

The Motobecane decals that Jim bought are adhesive backed vinyl. I do send written instructions as well as a pictorial instruction sheet. I'm planning on sending Jim extras so he can practice putting one or two on before the final set. Computers are a pain when they crash and it takes more time to fix them than expected.

JR - thanks for your generous offer...I greatly appreciate it (he offered me decals for the 916 as an apology). You couldn't offer a better apology than that! I'll be sure to contact you if I need decals in the future.

I know we're firmly off topic...but my desk top is about 6 years old and we're at the replacement point. I was thinking about going Mac, and now you're all making me nervous (especially at their insane price points).

Probably not too far off topic. The hate for Mac in these quarters reminds me of opinions held of Rivendell, Velo Orange, et al.
