Yeah, I haven't tried it yet because I've not come into any chrome in that shape. I don't know how it would look but sealing those pits would have to be important.

I've got the 1st gen Mountech FD and the 2nd Gen Mountech RD (without the funky upper jockey wheel) on my TS III. It works very well.

Yeah, I'm starting to come around to the fact that the catalogs aren't the absolute resource we'd hope. Good start though

Same here, my '82 Newest is equipped with 2nd generation Cyclone instead of the prettier 1st generation as shown it the catalog.. No difference in performance so I can't justify the switch.

Tires were not great etc. He told me that he knew that he paid too much when he got it for $400, and I wholeheartedly agree. I didn't feel like I could pay any more than $100 for it, but left without making an offer because I didn't want to insult the guy. Also, what's up with the indentations on the bottom in the picture below? Is it dented, or are all of the frames like that? A little lost as what to do with it, make an offer? Walk away?
What are thoughts?

Was this the 64cm Fuji Touring series IV that was listed in Muskegon?

Here's some pics. Looks like I must have broken the front derailleur on the way home. I'd like to get some new pedals, chain, obviously a front deraileur etc. Any recommendations on what to buy? Should I just get a whole new component set? I don't really know what I've got here or where to begin to be honest.

MKS Touring pedals and Suntour Cyclone GT or Suntour V-GT derailleurs. I slightly prefer Cyclone.

Whta's the higher end of those two? Is that a recommendation based on quality or originality? I don't want to spend a bunch, but I'd like to make this thing nice and ridable for the forseeable future.

OP beat me to his Technium a couple years back, so this Fuji must be the one from Muskegon.

The Technium was a steal that went quick, this thing sat for sale for almost five days. The technium is for sale if you're interested, I'd like to get close to enough to offset the fuji. Let me know if you're interested. Don't know what your username means, but I just sold a '75 CB400F too!

Those 64cm bikes a WAY too big for me. I had PM'd BPJ about it a few days ago.

My CB400f was a 1976. My all time favorite motorcycle.

I have a set of those bars that I have never rode. They came on a Technium 460 I flipped.

Velocals has a T V decal set. I plan to use this set on my III just leave the series number off.

My $8 yard sale Touring III....looks like hell rides like heaven.
I think the PO was Lurch. has a 48spoke rear wheel on a Tandem hub. The Rims match.

OP, I have a spare Mountech FD that has the "Mountech" logo about half worn off but otherwise in great condition. Yours for the price of postage. PM me.

Ok, I'll play, my newly finished TS III, paid more than $8 though (crappy cell pic, haven't taken proper pics yet)

BTW, shifter cable routing is much improved now, translated: redone. Yeah, I left them short above.

Cyclone is better. Regular Cyclone was Suntour's top F/RD in the 70's. Cyclone GT was the touring version. I use this on my Fuji America and really like it. I should note that there are two versions, the regular and MK II. Both function the same, but look a little different, and cost about the same.

V-GT was just a cheap RD that is known to function extremely well for being lower end. It has a fair amount of steel, so expect it to be slightly heavier, but not significant for touring purposes. My Mountech RD is in pretty bad shape, so I will be switching over to a V-GT on my TS IV because I have one on hand and I like variety. V-GT Luxe is nice too.

I don't believe that there is a V-GT FD, but it seems like they were frequently matched up with Compe V. I assume that it would reach for a triple, but hopefully someone will chime in. I suppose that you could get another Mountech FD, if you like. The Mountech RD is known to have some problems though.

Neither "sets" are all that expensive. Check some Ebay prices if you are really curious, but Ebay will be a premium. If you have a bike co-op nearby, they can sometimes be had for dirt cheap($10-15 or less for the set).

What's the consensus? Go original or upgrade? What would be some good affordable upgrades if I chose to go that way? Also, can I change the name of the thread to reflect that the decision has been made between the bikes?
