What Type of Bar Tape Am I Holding?`

Hey guys, I tore some really nice tape off the Mercian (by the way, how do you say this?) I'm working on, and I really like it. It's thin, like two layers of cello tape, but it has a nice pleather-esque feel.

I can take a picture if you guys can't picture it in your minds, but I really do like this stuff, so any hints are appreciated.

Sounds like vinyl maybe? I think you can still get it. I just always use cork on newer and cloth on older bikes.

It's hard to explain. It's definitely a cloth material, but the top is textured and shiny. The bottom look like the "leather" on my Selle Italia SLR in the areas where it's fallen over.

I'll get pictures up tomorrow.

Vinyl. The bottom of yours is severely worn; they don't usually look like that.

Closest thing to it available today is Bike Ribbon.

Yeah - that, or Ambrosia if you can find any. What color do you need?

Black. Can trade you some wrapped, lightly-used Fizik suede Microtex.

Blue would be cool. I don't know if you're asking Kurt or if you're asking me, but I need to meet with you anyway.

Yeah, that's exactly what it's like. This piece is from behind the brake lever clamp. The rest of the bars were ridden on so much that it was completely smooth, and you could see different fades of blue throughout.

John... around this weekend?

By the way, thanks for all the help with this. That bike ribbon looks exactly like what I've got.
