1981 Raleigh Sirocco as found
Finally i can show this forum my first find of a really great vintage/classic bicycle. I'm really proud to have found this one (less than a mile from my home) as it is a near new Raleigh Sirocco from 1980 in ivory/pearly white. The bike is from the first owner and he had not ridden more than 300 miles on it .... It's all there and 100% original.
The most interesting is that this is a Carlton/Worksop Raleigh and for being my first as found bike i'm really enthusiastic about except one thing it's too big for me ...
However it is a real gem and it looks good in my bedroom winking at me all the time ...
I'm real pleased with this one despite being just a Raleigh, but maybe the worksop version will make up for being just that.

You gonna eat that?
Don't know where you live, but if you're anywhere close to Fort Worth, I can help you with that issue of the bike being too big. (It's just my size!)
Nice find.
What derailleurs does it have?

Ha, ha, i knew a reply like this would come ...
No, i live in the EU in Holland to be precise so it's not gonna be a 1, 2, 3 affair besides i don't want to let go it was just a reminder of that although it was one heck of a find it was not 100% perfect for me in respect of size, but i would have been a big fool if i let it go for that minor reason. Besides i went out to pick it up on my old granny bicycle in the pouring rain and i was soaking wet, but no rain was gonna spoil my pot of gold find.
The 1'st owner told me that that the reason for buying this bike was as he had friends/family that where bragging that they should form a group and start racing in order to keep in shape and such. Well all said and done as the equipment was bought, but after a few times out riding the fun was not as much as talking about it.
The bike there for has no more than 300 miles on it of for us europeans less than 500 km's at the most.
Here are some more pix of the bike.

That looks like it will clean up really nice.
Just out of curiosity where is the serial number and what is the format?
I have what I was told was a Raleigh and close to the same vintage as yours and the SN does not match the format that would be correct for a Raleigh according to most information I am finding. The bike I have is a simple 6 digit format 166805. I do know my bike was bought new in the UK and brought over to the states.

Altenburger brakes. Is it me, or would anybody else swap these for Gran Compes?
