Austro-Daimler smoked chrome SLE
I recently purchased an Austro-Daimler SLE and would like to find out as much information as I can about the bike. In particular I would like to know what year(s) the smoked chrome version was available. None of Puchultima's catalog scans seem to show it available in this color.
Were there a lot of these?
The bike is outfitted with Campy Nuovo Gran Sport front and rear derailleurs, Campy down tube shifters, Weinmann brake levers (drilled), Weinmann front and rear side pull brakes, Nervar cranks, Friko handlebars, SR stem, Gipiemme seatpost, and drilled sprocket (?). I'm not sure how much of this is original equipment.

beautiful bike. don't worry you'll have lots of guys drooling over it soon. is there a year stamped on the rear derailleur near where the cable goes in? that should give you a rough idea, assuming it is the original.

It's a beauty, specially the later ones with the full braze-ons! The black chrome really sets it off from most other bikes from the period.
Just be gentle with the old decals on this bike.....they will flake right off at the slightest of touch.......and from what I've seen through the years, maybe even the slightest of breath...

Bianchigirll I see you spread your photo magic on a lot of peoples post, thank you. Not sure what you did to make the picture bigger, but thanks.
Chombi thanks for the tips on the decals. They definitely seems like they'd flake right off if you look at them the wrong way. I have gone ahead and got some cyclomondo decals...in case he/she decides to get out of that business. I'll leave the originals on as long as I can.
