From a liability standpoint, I feel obligated to tell you if you visit, the neighborhood dog is named Jaws, he likes groundhog, and just because he wouldn't let the last stranger out of his car doesn't mean he won't like you...additionally, when he was young, some kids on bikes tormented him so he really, really doesn't like cyclists (I have to yell "Jaws, its me" when I go by). The foregoing is all true and I'll post a pic of Jaws when I get a chance.

Well, it seems the farthest east you can drive from London with Google's help is Bangladesh.

LOL! Kayaking the Pacific...someone is going to take it literally, just like those drivers obeying their GPS and try to make a turn off a bridge. ;)

I place-marked my LBS, he has all my bikes on display for me, yeah, that's it. :D

Got it!
Thanks Khatful! If I find a Fuji in Tulsa you will be the first to know.

"who's side are you on?"
That would be telling.
"what do you want?"

"you won't get it"
by hook or by crook we will

I have it, but I Googled it :)

khatfull 09-04-10 06:38 AM

Bump.

Just FYI, the sticky for this thread will last around 3-4 weeks, then go back to normal. I asked the mods to sticky it to keep it up in the first page for a while. I figure 3-4 weeks will catch anyone who wants to be included.

I did it!!! I placed the bike icon close to my favorite coffee house The Brothers K. It's a great sunday morning destination where you can find plenty of steel, aluminum and carbon. The coffee, pastries, art and atmosphere are awesome.

Seems there is no one from the UK listed yet so I've added myself... not seriously into vintage rides but have recently dug out my 80's Peugeot and given it a dusting down... happy times indeed!

kokorozashi 09-10-10 10:14 AM

Curses, foiled by my workplace's ridiculously slow internet connection.

I'll have to try this when I get home (on Sunday -- hitting some out-of-town trails this weekend ... NOT on my delightful classic-by-my-standards road bike, though I did have to think about it ;)).

Great idea!

Hey guys, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be good if we agree on the same icon. The variety detracts from clarity. Whaddayathink?

sauze 09-10-10 11:13 AM

I'd be fine with that , my icon is rather gigantic.

mkeller234 09-12-10 10:49 PM

I'm just going to stick mine in the middle downtown since I think I may be the only Cantonian. It's not a far ride from there anyhow.

I used my bikeforum avatar, but I see what you are saying. The photo icons don't resize with the map and block all of the others around them. I'm going to change mine back to a bicycle.

I don't think one has to be in the US to put a placemark on the map? I'll try one in England. There's no US-bent here.

I was able to place one in London...The map does default to showing the US though...I don't see a setting for that. But, if you zoom out you'd see non-US placemarks.

Let's not turn this into something it's not please.

Sorry, the map wouldn't zoom out the first time I tried it...probably my internet connection.

I also have a second one as suggested for those of us who are willing to facilitate purchases for out of towners, look to the "The Facilitators" thread here:

Good idea, but I suggest you change the name of the thread from "The Facilitators" to "The Enablers." Hey, we might as well be honest about it.

noglider 09-21-10 09:59 AM

I'm not going to map it, but I was in Washington State yesterday and I'm in San Francisco today. We fly back home Thursday evening. I love this coast.

jeebusaurousrex 11-05-10 11:50 AM

Now if this was a map of fixie/ss riders the neighborhoods near me would be jam packed full of little markers.

ddot 11-22-10 03:57 PM

I'll add mine soon.

Red Stick, represent! If I'm first in BR, does that mean I get to claim it?
