Gahh stupid head set race diameter being stupid

Of all the sizes my Raleigh has to have a 27mm steer tube race. Of course all three of my good headsets are 26.4... I guess I will have to wait til Tuesday and see if my LBS has the reamer to turn it down. Grrr I have the headset faceing tool but not the one that reams it down to standard.
ok that is enough ranting for one day, now get off my lawn!

At my lbs one of my many nicknames is 'king of the mis-matched fork crown race'. Luckily one of the other shops in town has one of those massive wooden Campy tool chests and any more when they see me coming they start reaching for the reamer...good luck on Tuesday toytech!

I know, but I already have a Shimano 600, a Campy Record and a Miche with tapered bearings I would rather use.

Fair enough, but the ISO headset cups are also bigger than the JIS ones. I don't know if the .2mm or whatever is an issue or not, though.

The steer tube turned down beautifully, turns out I had the tool to cut it down and did not realize it
no problem with the cups, they were the same size. Headset is installed and turns like buttah.
The joy of having the right tool for the job!

headsets are my least favorite bicycle componet, we should just opt out of them and let friction do the job
