Picked up a Made-in-England 1960's(?) Raleigh with Sturmey-Archer internal 3 speed!

$40 from local craigslist! There is another one in Portland going for $150. It is in great condition. Only thing we need to do is re-finish the Brooks saddle. My wife found it and now I want one for myself.

Nice, yours seems to be in pretty good shape, great price. There should be a two-digit date code on the rear hub for an exact age.

Probably later than 60's with that down tube logo, I don't recall seeing white till the later years, but it's not like I see them all...
Nice find, who's going to ride this one, I mean are you going to let your wife?

OK, I don't know how. In some of my other posts, my pics enlarge but for some reason this one doesn't. Any suggestions?

Host them somewhere like Webshots or Flicker and direct link to them is one way.

Ride-Fly,

One of the better sites on identifying Raleighs is The Headbadge: http://www.jaysmarine.com/bikecollection.html

Take some time and explore the site, it's creator is an active member on this forum and will most likely chime in soon.

Another excellent site is Retro Raleighs: http://sheldonbrown.com/retroraleighs/

You guys and gals (just in case Bianchi Girl is reading) are AWESOME!!! Thanks for all the helpful tips and links!

@ David Newton & ftwelder--my wife will be the main rider of this bike. It will probably get ridden 2 or 3 times a year. :[ I am impressed by the knowledge you both have. It is stamped 12-72.

@ wahoonc--I'll try but I've never used flikr or any other webhosting picture site.

@ gbalke --I'll show these to the wifey, she'll ge a kick out of them.

Thanks again everyone!!

12 72 means it is most likely a 1973. Here is a link to the 1973 Catalog page from the Head Badge.

There are three old Superbes, sitting at a local business. There is also a near mint Hercules there. I have to go get them, one of these days. Perhaps today, if my wife will let me use my truck.

Wow, what a gold mine!! Love the patina on those Superbes. Thanks for sharing.

Ah, where did you say these were??

This message was sent from my Black Berry while on my way up to Ontario.
