Gios Torino Professional Retro-mod

Gentlemen of C&V, I've finished my latest go-fast build and I took a few photos to share. Many thanks for the help from forum members who helped me put this together.

The frame is a late 80's or early 90's Gios Professional, which I found in a neighboring city and that good friends were gracious enough to fetch for me. Upon receiving the frame, I set it up SS just to take it for a spin, and I found myself not only sold on the frame, but thinking that I needed to make it go faster than an SS could manage... and so the parts search began.

Parts are:
Chorus 10s ergopower
Chorus Skeleton Brakes
Record Cranks & BB
Veloce 10s Derailleurs
C-record Headset
Scirocco G3 Wheelset (I would have liked silver, but I found this 'set' used for a very good price)
Campy Cableset, that the seller of the ergos kindly threw into the deal
3ttt "competition" bars
Nitto Stem

I'm sure many of you will agree that racier bikes often have a 'go fast' tendency, to the point that the bike almost feels like it wants to go faster! This frame has the tendency to the point that I had no choice but to equip it with 10 speed campy and low-spoke count wheels. I'm sure that some C&V'ers may not approve of the wheels, but riding is believing in this case.

There's a few more photos on my flickr page if you'd like to look:

i should have kept those shifters for myself. they look GREAT and you got a good deal.

i know what you mean about the wheels. ascetically, i prefer mine with the traditional wheels, but she does ride great with the eurus wheels off my aluminum bike:

TGB, I really appreciate the pointer on the shifters - As you can see it turned out quite well. And those tires look great! I'd consider a trade if my Vittorias weren't treating me so well.

no problem. you are just lucky i didn't need them at the time. (i could use them now ) if ya ever need any other help/campagnolo advice, let me know.

the tires have some miles on them and im not sure i would feel good about trading them. vittorias are nice but i would go with veloflex next time.

I had 9speed shifters before, but I sold them with another bike I had. Which was a shame, since you don't often see the older style ergo in 9speed. They weren't marked, but I think that they were either Record or Chorus.

I do have a line on some Centaur 10s shifters, although they were crashed and will need a rebuild. Care to be the guinea pig for my first ergolever refurb?
