$7000 Claud Butler on Ebay (Holy Guacamole, Batman!)
Have you all seen this? It's a collector's dream, I'd say. Comes with two of almost everything, too. But $7000... that's a lotta lettuce.

When I see auctions like these, I wonder both how stuff like this stayed NOS this long, and why its coming to the marketplace from NOS now.
Beautiful lugs and color scheme. Classic, elegant, gorgeous.

There was an 80s colnago that sold for 6500 last week.
Some hard to find parts on this but I don't think it will sell for more than 4000

It is a buy it now or best offer "auction". So one could conceivable buy it for $2000

There's a stack of very rare old parts that come with this. The collector's have verified the provenance and authenticity, so it's not out of the question. That stunning Rene Herse went for over $7k just about a week ago, too.
Certainly more than I can afford, but in the collector world, this is a very, very desirable piece.

Prices are nuts all over. Local CL ad has a Schwinn Sprint, $300 complete with Chrome bars and foam bar wrap.
I sold a Ross Gran Tour Professional yesterday for $50. It was in fair cosmetic condition with surface rust on the frame and chrome rims, but in good mechanical condition. The buyer actually asked me if $50 was enough. I guess they could not believe someone was selling a bike for what it was really worth, not some inflated price.
The actual bargains on CL around here are the newer bikes, less than 8 years old. Road bikes with brifters and carbon fork, $300. Top brand name Mountain bikes with suspension forks are bringing less than $200. But vintage is just plain dog nuts.

$5400? The problem with an NOS bike is once you ride it, it is no longer NOS. Once you build up the parts, they are no longer NOS. What is the buyer going to do with it? Hang it on the wall with all the parts on a shelf below it?

^^All true. Someone else's problem, though.
