Lotus 10 speed Mixte or Vista Silver Shadow 12 speed mixte????
 

Hello,

I am new to this forum, been reading a lot and still have a lot to learn.
I will be looking at two bikes this weekend, a 10 speed Lotus mixte and a Vista Silver Shadow 12 speed mixte.

Is one any better quality bike then the other? Why?

I also have an option to look at Raleigh Grand Prix mixter from the early 70's....but it's 50% more % then the other two.

Need your opinions..

More important than which one is the better bike is which one is in better condition and which one fits you the best.

If you aren't a wrencher, buy the bike that fits you best and is in the best condition.

Japanese bikes offer good value. The lotus sounds promising. I've never heard of the Vista brand. The best thing is to take them all for a ride and take pics of the drivetrain (derailleurs, brakes and stickers on the downtube). If you're not so sure which one to choose, post the pics and we'll help you with an educated decision.

My gut says Lotus.

(But my gut is also very hungry...)

I won't get a change to try these bikes out unitl Sunday.
Both are priced at $90.00

Lotus.....better bike..............if they were all equal, the fenders on the Lotus would be the deal maker......I think the extra $$ on the Raleigh are for name recognition.....

I'm familiar with the Vista and my daughter has a Lotus mixte... I'd definitely go with the Lotus. It likely has alloy wheels, forged dropouts and and it is already fitted with fenders.
