Shimano L-422 Shift Levers and 7 Speed

Hello, I have a quick question. Ive got a Trek 400 that has the shimano L-422 shift levers and a Shimano L-525GS rear derraileur. Will I have any problems putting a 7 speed Shimano HG50 on this bike? Rear spacing is 126mm. I dont really understand the l-422 levers. They click but dont exactly feel like index.

Thanks,
Kevin

L422 down tube and stem shifters are NOT SIS index. They are simply ratcheting friction shifters. They will function fine, as friction shifters.
