Is this a "real" CCM Tour du canada?

And by that I mean is it the 531 model? It doesn't appear to have the NR parts but maybe the frame is still nice. Any help? T-mar? 65er? Thanks guys

Yes, it is a real CCM "Tour du Canada", however; it is not the one most sought after. It is the early to mid seventies CCM "TdC" that is of collectible value. The one you have pictured is an eighties something model, attempting to gain momentum by wearing its predecessor's name.

The bike your are asking about, is entry level but a nice enough old bike to play around with. That said, I would not spend much to purchase the bicycle, nor would I spend much fixing it up. But that is just me and because I tend to go for rare, or unusual, high end racing bikes, these days. Unless, of course, someone offers me a mid forties AutoMoto, which is hanging in The Old Shed as I write.

Thanks Randyjawa. I'm interested in it for my GF. She caught a door today and her Univega is kind of messed up. So it probably isn't a 531 model?

By the way the shed is amazing! Kind of like our co-op https://www.bikegarage.org/ But less pugs broken at the head-tube and more nice bikes.

There is a guy selling one of the 531 models near me, are they really all that collectible?

To the best of my knowledge, the early to mid seventies CCM "Tour du Canada" was the most sophisticated bicycle that CCM ever made. It featured full Reynolds 531 and chromed Campagnolo drops, coupled with a near full Campagnolo NR grouppo and a Brooks Professional saddle. All of that would make the bicycle fairly rare, of comparatively high quality and, certainly, of collectible quality. To, that, add...

How many other vintage high end Canadian made racing bicycles, from the seventies can you name? My 1976 Marinoni is about the only one that I have run across, to date. So, as vintage Canadian racing bicycles, from the early to mid seventies go, and I am most certainly not aware of them all, the CCM "TdC" is a pretty decent dog to have in one's kennel. Of course, I am biased. The focus of my personal collection is high end, special issue or rare Canadian made vintage road racing bikes.
