I almost bought one of those (new). The shop I worked at at the time sold Peugeots. The also made that same frame with Full Campagnolo. I went for the PSN10 instead as it was lighter, clincher tires, and had Campy bits.

Been watching it too, It's all about six magic letters, "SLX" AND "NOS"
A fantastic Peugeot aquisition for the one with enough money, but way above my budget already
If this was two years ago, I might have been in that fight for the bike, being a big Peugeot fan! Economy is just too bad these days for me to risk spending that much.
.......I guess I'm still very happy with my 84 PSV!

...which by concidence, I ended up modding up with similar compnents as this PX10....
I think the buyer will be getting this one as an investment, becuse it's an uncommon Peugeot, and NOS.
Hope the lucky winner is a poster here at C&V!
BTW, anyone notice the Vitus ZX-1 frame that sold for high money today too?

That was cool to see. I was just admiring that same catalog scan while trying to id an 87 triathlon. When I think of px10's I think of the older ones.
Never seen one like that. I was thinking it might go for more. Does anyone know about what they cost new in 87?

They ran about $1800-1900 for that one, I think the Campy version was about $2100 (the PSN was $1450). They also made just a frame, but I do not remember what that cost. I cannot recall if the PX10's had a braze-on number hanger on the bottom of the top tube, just beyond the head tube lug, but I do know the bare frame did. One of the bare frame versions passed through E-bay about two years ago. One of the Mavic PX-10's like that one also passed through about the same time. It did not sell as high as this one, (About $800-900). It was in good consdition, but not NOS like that one.

Even though that is a good amount of money, it's not overly insane. It seems that it sold for a fair price.

Mind you, there are three different variants of the ET-tributes mind you - one for Wally World, and two other LBS variants; one with cheap componentry, the other with the top end stuff. This one is the latter.

It was really hard to tell, as so much of the original packing was still on the bike.

What was/IS so special about this bike? It looks pretty run-of-the-mill bmx-ish to my untrained eye for these.

Even really, really special C&V bikes rarely hit this stratosphere!

vintage bmx stuff often goes for much more than our c v stuff. I just sold a set of SR chrome bmx hubs for a 100. on feabay this week. the most I have seen for a bmx locally was a Nos HUTCH that sold for about 8k and quickly.

I would imagine it also has something to do with being branded at the ET edition. That was the first VHS my family owned, and it was given to us. Sheesh.

Same as CV I guess, older guys who could not afford the bike of their dreams as a kid or teen, and now have the disposable income. I notice a lot of Cv guys used to race road bikes, many BMX collectors used to race BMX. Also some of those bikes were as expensive as high end road bikes when new. All my best parts profits have been bmx parts.

I think vintage BMX parts are expensive because less of them survived. BMX parts get trashed when used, I don't have any good old bmx parts dispite riding for over 13 years.

Do BMX collectors ride the bikes they collect? I would be intrested to see a vintage bmx subforum here to learn more about vintage bmx

Yeah, and the blue paint (French racing colors?) and newer graphics don't look as good as the Pearl white and checker graphics ones from eairlier years.....
I always prefer my Peugeots in white than in any other color too!............but Peugeot+SLX is admittedly very rare + NOS, so I think $1.1K was an OK price.

Chombi, I agree with you 1000%. Watching that auction has pushed me closer to putting my NOS 1981 Super Competition on Ebay. I'd be happy with $1100!
