    I'm not a Bianchi expert, so don't put too much into what I have to say, but I think $400 is about fair for buyer and seller. A little more towards the seller IMHO. The Campy drivetrain is what ups the ante and I don't know a lot about their pricing because my eyes usually roll back in my head when I start looking at them on ebay. I believe the frame was middle of the road tubing made to compete with the JP stuff that was coming out at that time. I would normally not comment on this type post except that the frame looks so similar to the 85 Bianchi Limited with 'special' tubing that I used to own and went through the same process as you are that I feel fairly confident. The Limited came with Shimano 600, and if in 'better-than-good' condition, I would expect to sell for 250-275 on the West Coast. The one your looking at appears to be in excellent condition, I could see it selling for 350 or more in LA.

    i really don't know anything about campy components that's why i'm asking. plus i don't know anything about the tubing.

    the only thing i've found out is that modolo corsa is a low-end component.

    anyone know anything about the RD and frame?

    It's a good match for the 1985 Stelvio. The only exception is the tubing decal. The 1985 specs specifically mention Columbus Aelle R. Still, this is the year that most tubesets were hidden behind a generic Bianchi Special by Columbus decal, so the catalog specs may not have reflected true production. FYI, the 1985 Stelvio had a $420 US MSLP.

    The other curious aspect is the serial number itself. It's incomplete and looks more Japanese than Italian. If there were an additional, preceding letter, I would definitely say Japanese, but the year would be wrong. If it's Italian it's still not right. The S would have to be a 5 and that's a couple digits extra than any other Bianchi we've seen for this period. Alternately, they may have ran both sections of the serial number together and forgot the period. Still, we've bever seen an S indicator on Italian Bianchi and the year would still be obviously wrong. So, the serial number isn't any help in confirming the year.

    Hi sorry I am abit late chiming in here. that looks very clean and little used as the seller states. the frame is one of the made for Bianchi, Columbus Special frame.

    the seller is a bit off in his discription though. the Shifters and deraileurs are Campi Triomphe, nice stuff but pooh poohed by some here. the cranks are Ofmega Campi clones, and the brake are Modolo Corsa. mostlikely the hubs (if the wheels are original) are Ofmega or Miche. still great components just not "all Campi"

    it is a great looking bike but $400 is close to te top. I suspect (I am no home so can't look it up) the original retail was close to 450-500. it does look showroom new so if it fits and he likesit go for it.

    I own an 85 stelvio in red,bought it of a member here, the campy stuff is Triomphe entry level stuff but ok Its the frame thats pretty awesome very twitchy ride great accelaration fast fast fast. This one is in very good condition. 400 its a lot of money but i think if its your first CV bike and you want a marquee name with lots of sex appeal, u cant go wrong as your first bike. Do a search here the bike was discussed extensively.
