Front tire for Fuji 450 se, does anyone know where to get one???
Okay, so a friend of mine asked me to work on her bike for her. Simple stuff, new brake hoods, tires, tubes, basic tune-up stuff. The bike is pretty cool, it's an 80's Fuji 450 se roadbike. It has a set up kind of like a terry bike, 24" front wheel with a 27" rear. I say kind of like a Terry bike because the front wheel is not a terry bike 24", but some kind of weird size, that I can't find.
The front wheel is stamped "Ukai 24 x 1 1/4" No ISO. The front tire is marked "24 x 1 1/8 SCCR 450" Again no ISO anywhere to be found. SO I assume (we all know what that does), that this sucker must be an iso 540...It's not, that tire is too small.
My next assumption (here we go again) is that it must be a 547, which is strange because the only tire that is a 547 is a cruiser type tire, I need a road bike tire. SO I measure the wheel, and it looks more like it must be an iso 550----WHO MAKES A 550???
Does anyone know anything about Fuji 450 se's, and where I can find a tire? I've looked around the net, and it seems like this might be a strange case of one off tires for this bike. I would be interested in buying a vintage NOS tire if I could find one.
Anyways, all help would be appreciated!
Thanks

I sold these bikes, and yes they do resemble Terry bikes. I am sure that someone has a tire to fit this bike, because many of these types were made - a la Terry, Panasonic, Peugeot, Fuji. Try Niagra bicycle supply in buffalo , ny. first. I checked and they listed 24 X 1' and also 23 X 1 3/8 tires. If not, you could always try Fuji directly, Terry, bike tires direct, or see if your local bike shop might be able to order this size from Quality Bicycle of Minnesota. The 450 was a great quality Japanese made bike, and besides the 24" front wheel, all other parts should be standard.

24" tires I've found, a normal 24 x 1 (iso 25-540) I tried, and it was too small. I've looked around, including asking my local bicycle dealer, and it was a no go. I'll try your suggestions though and see what I turn up. Thanks

Pics no problem! As soon as the bike is done I'm putting my ground fx lights on it and I'll put a gallery with the owner up on my website: https://nightbike.info/file/?cat=4
However the tire you linked to won't work. It's iso 520- too small for the wheel I'm using. The bike isn't a terry bike, just a similar design. I also checked Niagara bike supply, the biggest 24" road bike tire they had was 540 as well. The tire I need has an ISO LARGER than 540-maybe 547, but I can't find a road bike tire with a 547 iso.

Tony, this thread has been dormant for about 14 years. I doubt that they are still looking for tires.
In addition, it is against the forum rules to sell, or attempt to sell, items outside of our various Forum Marketplaces. Lastly, only paid forum members can sell items on Bike Forums.

Tire size Bible. Then you need to find them.

Just in case someone else out there is looking for this same tire: per the late Sheldon Brown's website (see above for link) the tire appears to be ISO 547/Schwinn S5. Kenda - yeah, I know - apparently still makes them.

FWIW BikeIndex indicates it's an ISO 547 / S5 - https://bikeindex.org/bikes/41505

If there is even a half inch of clearance up to the bottom of the fork crown, then a 559mm wheel and tire might work ok, possibly needing a shorter-reach caliper however.
This assuming that the fork isn't wide enough for available 547mm tires.
