Where can I buy RSX 7-speed shifters?
I've been searching all over the internet looking for these things but nobody has them, not even ebay. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The only set I had came on a complete bike I bought on eBay. I sold off the whole thing in parts and made a tidy sum back.

Is RSX the same as RSX 100?
I guess it's not. I have a Fuji with RSX100 downtube shifters

Learn bikes that were spec'd with them. I've considered picking up a few bikes with intentions of parting them out for those.
Keith, I am ashamed that you don't know where to look. Perhaps it is due to that Miyata taint that you had.

Two places as mentioned earlier, ebay or a donor bike. I have picked up a handful of RSX bikes at about what the price people get on ebay just for the brifters. The seven speed stuff is very popular right now for upgrading older 126mm spaced bikes. I have a couple squirreled away right now for future builds.
Anymore, when I update the drivetrain on a vintage bike, I usually just go the donor bike route. It is so much easier, just taking the entire drivetrain off the donor, and doing a swap. I am doing a Shimano 105 swap right now (8 speed), then I have a Shimano 600 swap next.

You mean like these (ST-A410)?
I'm trying to barter them for a set of bar end shifters and a long 26.6 seat post in the ISO thread.

I've had a fairly easy time getting them by posting wanted ads on craigslist. I'm in Seattle, and I've had a total of 3 pairs in my possession in the past year. I posted an ad for pairs on separate occasions. One person sold a set for $40 and another for $60. The other pair came on a donor bike that I got a deal on too. I think some people don't realize their worth and think the stuff is outdated. Lucky for me... those are some great solid shifters.

A word of caution. Not all RSX shifters are 7 speed. RSX came in the sought after 7 speed variety and an 8 speed that is basically a 105 clone. So be sure to clarify, as the OP did, which shifters you are seeking. BTW, RSX 7 speed typically sell for more than any of the SHimano 8 speed shifters except DA and really nice 600/Ultegra. I have two sets of the RSX 7 speed and won't part with them.

Somewhat related question: Are the RX100 STI's 7 or 8? I really want a pair of those...

Why the demand for 7-speed shifters? You can easily use 8-speed shifters on a 7-speed cogset, just leaving one of the shifter clicks blocked off by the rear derailler adjustment screw.

8-speed and 7-speed cog spacing is slightly different. (4.8mm vs. 5mm if I have Sheldon's tables memorized properly )
8-speed shifters will shift alright, but 7 will do it better.
I have what I think are a 7-speed pair, not sure if I want to sell 'em though. Hmmmm. I guess I don't need 'em...

Try bicycle swap meets. That's where I picked mine up three years ago, for $45.00 for the pair. Definitely understand the love. Have them on one bike, Sora's on another, there's no comparison between the two.

No one cares
i have a set of them that i used for a season on a commuter. then the rear shifter stopped shifting. I spray a bunch of lube in it and it worked for a bit longer then stopped again.
Now I know why I like Campy ergo better. You can rebuild them.
So that leaves me with one rsx left shifer for a triple.
I really need to start listing things for sale...

This is why I was thinking of bartering them. They are neat and all, but I have this feeling I'm leaving my bike at the mercy of this unserviceable black box. I've read they are built like tanks, but how do I tell if mine are in good shape other than they click the right number of times?

You guys should check out your shifters. You should check if the spring under the faceplate is seated correctly. Twice, I have found that my face plate was loose and that the spring underneath did not sit in the 2 holes... which seems like a common problem for many. If you unscrew the faceplate, there is just one spring and some washers under there.
I don't doubt that Campy is a better option in terms of longevity, but these shifters really are bomber. I wouldn't call them a "black box."

I just passed on a bike on local CL, 7-sp RSX group, STI, for $175. Too much going on here to be doing that, but the donor bike is the way to go on RSX 7-sp.
RSX 8-sp can be found on everything from aluminum clunker Caloi's, to Diamondback Experts, and I believe some Cannondales. The bike I passed on was a Fuji touring bike.
