Majestic Meteor
Hi everyone,
I'm a first time poster so please excuse me if my post location or formatting is incorrect.
I'm looking for information on the Majestic brand, the model is Meteor.
I could not find any information on this bike anywhere on the net, I can't even tell you the year but I suspect it's mid-late 60's or early 70's.
The bike is a 3 speed and is stamped "Made In Czechoslovakia".
Any help would be appreciated!

Hello Welcome to the forums. I would suspect the "Made In Czechoslovakia" is why you can find much information. It was likely built for the regional market and somehow emigrated tot he states.
Neat looking bike. If it was mine I would give it a cool made up back story like some great uncle road it from Czechoslovakia to Gilbraltar and somehow got across the channel to Tunisia and then down to Morocco and caught a ship to the US. All of the occuring during the height of the coldwar in the last '60s.

Well, it never quite made it the States. It liked things in Canada and decided to stay there. Seriously, it's probably early 1970s. While the general features look boom era, the curious aspect is the two tone fade paint scheme which became popular in the mid 1980s. Still, it's probably early 1970s. During the boom, retailers were looking to get ther hands on any bicycle, regardless of the source. Other Czech brands seen Canada during this period were Favorit and Rapido. They may even have come from the same factory.

The only real solution is not to ride it in the winter. Baring that, clean it well, treat any existing rust and wax it. After each ride wipe it down with a damp cloth and dry it. That will minimize the effects of the salt.
